"best sounding" intake filter?
I'm pretty sure all the filters sound alike but just want to make sure I suppose. Also, anyone have any good reviews with the BMC filters? I was leaning towards those since they have the euro adapter built in, and I do have a 2010 MY so it saves me the hassle of buying a separate adapter.

Filter Only Loudness
I was very suprised to find out how loud the front of the car got with an aftermarket filter ! I have the Macht Schnell ( MS ) dry filter. I love the increased sound up front. This is the only filter I have tried other than stock.

Here's an intake on an M3 - the sound is much deeper and louder than you would usually get from a filter change:

The example is invalid as it shows an open air element, not how a M3 with the air kit would drive on a daily basis (the kit includes a aluminum heat shield). The same results (and sound) can also be achieved with removing the lid on the stock airbox with aftermarket filter, whether it be aFe, MS, BMC or even stock to some degree. Plastic is a very good insulator, with aluminum a a close second. However, the sheet metal construction on the sides will actually aid in heat soak, and result in higher IATs. Any simple OBDII scanner will prove this - especially in city driving. We can easily attempt to sell a ~$1000 airbox as well, but it needs to make proven power first - which is what most are after, not just a cool sound.
