The service advisor got passively pissy after I had GM customer service try to persuade him that my alignment needed to be checked/performed after transmission replacement.

I have GM engineers looking at it, and giving me things to try, since I’m a certified GM tech now lol. I’m guessing this may end in a buy back at this rate. It will probably have another shifting failure if they don’t stop the slipping.

Oh, and when the dealership finally did my alignment, after they claimed to have originally, but didn’t…they left me this surprise!…track day photo below was taken three days before. Notice the lack of ground out paint on the bottom of the rocker panel in front of the rear wheel well?
So sorry to hear about your bad experience with the C8 DCT slipping clutch pack and bad GM Dealership. What does it say about GM Dealerships? Are they just not capable when it comes to C8? Some States have a "lemon law", not to mention your car is under warranty - unless track use voids it? This type of candid information definitely makes me rethink C8 ownership. The C8 Press Launch events were done at tracks and circuits in various parts of the nation. One would think a weakness in the DCT should've reared its head. Whatever the case I feel for you.

IF you ever determine what the root cause is for the slipping DCT clutches please report back. DCT pump pressure, pump filter, clutch plate wear, fluid level and fluid type all come to mind from E9X DCT information gleaned over the past decade and reported on this forum. Though perhaps the C8 DCT is a different animal? deansbimmer made a thread about DCT pump and filter issues he sees with E9X DCTs - albeit with much high milage cars. Good luck with finding a remedy and/or GM buying the car back.

My guess is fluid pressure is too low, for whatever reason. The slipping is the same across two new transmissions. So that most likely rules out many things which come with a new trans, such as the clutches, the pump, and the filter. Nevertheless, I did change the filter based on GM engineering’s recommendation as the first test, but it was unsuccessful. Also, fluid level has always been up to track spec. So perhaps the pressure regulation?

It is totally under warranty. I wouldn’t have bought this car without a trackable warranty haha. This particular dealership, although recommended locally by corvette people, just sucks. Maybe I’ll have better luck with another next time. The problem here is that no error codes are thrown, nor were they thrown before the previous transmission failed. So most dealerships won’t do anything until it inevitably trashes the transmission again. Then it’s just replaced and start again. I’m trying to break the cycle early.

Hey guys! Picking up an authentic Brembo GT BBK tomorrow hopefully.. getting it for a great price so I plan to upgrade the rings to Girodisc and also get new pads.

I’m not finding much info on brake pad options for the Brembo GT kit. They’re the 380x34 front and 380x28 rear rotors.

Any pad recommendations for both daily driving and some HPDE?

Tons of pads options for Brembo GT6 and GT4. Nearly every major pad manufacturer makes pads for these calipers.

I personally use, and highly recommend, Project Mu HC+/H 800 (they're the same pad) as an all round pad.

ok I'm getting conflicting info from brake vendors... Are there, or are there NOT raybestos track pads that fit a stock e90 m3?

I'm being told it's a custom cut pad, some say it's a Porterfield part number not Raybestos?

front:
Raybestos ST47 Series Competition Brake pads: RAY RC 918 ST47
maybe the same thing as RAY R 1260.19 ST47

rear:
RAY RC 919 ST43

I think Chevrolet/GM produces an amazing product for the money but the support from dealerships is hugely lacking. You basically have a motorsport-level product being handled by mechanics who have no idea what they're doing.

Time to replace motor mounts. I absolutely cannot add any more NVH into the car. The KMP wheel and stiffer suspension / bushings are already vibrating my hand to sleep on the drive to the track.

Bimmerworld has Meyle and Corteco. Any preference here?

I’ve also seen some people run E36 shields to help promote a bit more longevity.

Anyone ever run into this?
do you torque them dry or wet?

I've been snapping them too, but I was using vaselin on every bolt, and searched about it and figured out I should stop doing that. I don't know yet if it will stop snapping though.

i have these and i have been happy with them. they've been in for years now, but i had them in when i was tracking frequently. no issues, no increase in nvh, and they have held up great. i have probablly had them on the car for about 50,000 miles.

I went bimmerworld. I think my vibrating steering wheel is from dead motor mounts.

I think the old VT mounts were great. But in recent years they are rubbish and don't even last as long as stock mounts. My VT mounts separated at only 9k kms.

I went Powerflex after that and have been good ever since. Lifetime warranty too.

I remember reading someone had a problem with them. That’s a bummer.

Yeah that was me. And I think there were another 2-3 guys in my thread who had the same issue. The worse thing wasn't even the mounts failing. VT customer service was horrendous. I will never use their products ever again.

My revshift mounts did not last very long either. Seems they all need some heat shielding…
