Oh yeah, M3 over M6, definitely. However, I'd want a M3 w/ V10 and DCT. That too much to ask?

The new M5 will be out late next year, and the M6 sometime in 2012. But there's absolutely no chance whatsoever that the new M3 will be out before 2014, sorry.

I kind of love the idea of V10 in M3, does anybody know how much a swap like that costs? considering all new parts for swap. |

I'd say that swap would cost 30k$, but I really don't have a good data point. But I expect that V10 engine to be at least 20k$.

wow, considering the smg might be another 5K min. i think option C is what I will go with.. v10 or I might even keep the M3 and try make it the collectors car, by the looks of it and judging on what the rumors say, seems like it is THE last N/A M3 ever.. |

I don't think E9X M3 will be a collectors car. I mean it might, but how many out there... tens of thousands..
And don't take my word on the engine swap cost. I'm just estimating based on my very limited knowledge. Oh, hear another data point: If I remember correctly, a used S54 engine is somewhere close to 5-8k$.

I think so too. there are many but most of them are being used as daily drive/track cars. being the last and most powerful NA M3, it might be a collectors car some years from now if taken care of properly. of course same goes for the M5 and even M6 maybe.. BMW is making a mistake..of course the whole downsizing policy and the environment speak in favor of smaller engines but the M division has always been different, it's a pity they dismiss the point of view of the 20% of true M enthusiast and would rather appeal to the other 80%. If I wanted a twin turbo coupe I would just get the GT-R. I wish a BMW manager read peoples opinions on this forum, even though it would probably not make a difference. |

I'd get the GT-R, then switch up to a new M3 in a few years if you're so inclined.
One thing about the GT-R that bugs me is that you can't change gears with the shift knob (or at least that's how it use to be). I have both hands on the wheel for spirited driving, but for normal driving, typically just my left hand on the wheel. So to have my right hand on the wheel to change gears would be bothersome and negate the car to primarily auto mode for my usage. |

Get the M3. Another option is what until the new M6 is out.

I definitely would lean AGAINST getting an M6 mainly because the new 6 is right around the corner and IMO looks so, so much better.
GTR is a great choice if you're really itching for more performance and maybe more exclusivity. I personally could have gotten the M6 or the GTR over the M3 but overall I still think the M3 is the best.
