It's not much different than buying an axle back exhaust for sound. Most decent ones will cost $1500+ and probably gain 5 hp, if any.

Aside from a tune and test-pipes/x-pipe, there's not much else to get for significant hp gains on these cars, short of a supercharger kit. And dropping 10-11k on a Harrop can be difficult to justify for some.

Again, more regarding 10th Man Rule principle to reassure a novel design, rather than skepticism.

Well, no… Post cat axle-back slip on mufflers for sound is not a viable comparison to increasing the volume of the plenum and changing the design structure of the velocity stacks.

I'll give it up since nobody seems to care about potential torque losses, but all the reasons given thus far are just cognitive bias, and don't apply here. Just saying.

These folks bought a plenum in a group buy to save a few hundred bucks.

It's a bit of a stretch to think they'd be excited about finding a dyno and spending the money they saved on a few runs to get a delta number they couldn't feel in the seat.

I would have thought an early adopter would have been a big enough gear head to want to see that delta proven. I guess not.

Haimus have had a dyno before and after comparison available since well before the group buy started. They also had a good commentary on how they interpreted it. I read that before I put my money down. My own experience has been in line with that comparison, sure only by feel, not by measurement, but that doesn't make me any less happy with the result. Yes its a lot to spend on changing the sound, but for me the primary attraction of the E9x M3 is the theatre it creates, and the sound it makes is a big part of that. If I wanted a higher hp car, or a sweeter handling car, or a head turner, there are better alternatives. But its hard to beat this car for theatre, and the Haimus plenum undoubtedly adds to that.

I guess some guys really want to be able to point to it at cars and coffee and say "yea…someone I don't know on the forums got 8 more hp on the dyno with this plenum"

Cool, man.

I will need to discuss with Haimus first. I'll update the first thread and post when pricing, numbers, and timeframe are finalized. I'd like to give more accurate dates this next time around

Haimus sent us 2 plenums on the current shipment, 1 logo 1 blank. Unfortunately you're the very next one after this

So close yet so far

Just curious, do the Haimus plenums produce the same amount of increased sound when compared to other options?

I've gone through two iterations of the CarboProject Plenum, which utilizes the bottom factory plenum and a carbon lid on the top half - I found their "Export" version had a higher pitch sound vs Haimus' that has a deep/bass sound to it. Now, that can easily be translated to "louder" but I prefer the more booming sound of the Haimus; it gives it an angry growl.

Came back in town from a long international trip and had a chance to open the package. The quality seems superb with no blemish I can find. And, what makes it very special for me is that my plenum is #100 produced! Install will likely happen next weekend.
