I thought my cup holder needed replacement
A common problem most E9X has - the broken cup holder.
I wasn't able to get mine pop back out since a few weeks ago and I assumed the spring was broken. After the kids went to bed early last night, I decided to take out the cup holder and just have a look at it. To my surprise, it wasn't broken at all, I just wiped it clean and put it back in and now it's working fine again. Even if it was really broken, it wasn't going to be an expensive replacement anyway (by BMW standard). But fixing little things like this kind of made my day, or night Now, looking forward to take care of the more serious issues such as rod bearings, throttle actuators and driveshaft...

I heard you can do the same thing for rod bearings. Just wipe it clean and put it back

i was going to disassemble the cup holder unit and realized it wasn't broken at all. I'll be looking into the seat belt arm extension next...

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I had a problem with one cup holder getting jammed up in my 335...took it apart and one of the gears were jacked up. I removed the gear and the holder shot out like a slingshot LOL. No more having to wait for a slow ass cup holder to slide out. |
