Coding / DCT Question

Is there anybody in the Seattle area helping out with coding anymore?

And a coding / non-coding related question: the DCT transmission in my new-to-me 2008 E90 always starts off in Sport mode (shows as a 1 in the dash rather than D) - is there any way I can get it to start in D? My 2009 E93 always started off in D. And, other than disconnecting the battery for a certain period of time, is there any way to reset the DCT "learning"?

Yes and no.

Starting off in sport mode (manual shift) is the default in the US, and its not adjustable or codeable to start off in automatic mode (I see it as a plus, manual shift is superior).

However, if you get a GTS DCT tune variant on the car, the GTS tune like all euro DCT software starts in D2 specifically. So if you are hell bent on getting it to start off in automatic mode, that is one way to do it.

Agree, manual shift is far superior. However I prefer to have it start off in automatic mode in case the wife or someone else needs to take the car. That way they cant take it to redline and realize or understand they need to manually shift to the next gear. The DCT tune is well worth it.

I need the tune then. God forbid I ever have to valet the car - those guys would definitely drive it off and leave it in 1 the whole time

That all being said the GTS tune is worth every penny. It's how the transmission should have come from the factory. Faster, crisper, removes all clunkyness especially at low speeds and coming to a stop. You can get the dinan tune for like 150 if I remember correctly.

Strictly BMW in bellevue is a Dinan dealer and can install the tune.

I have the GTS tune that was done by BIM Coding out of Seattle. His website and FB page are down now though so I'm not sure if he's still around. I can't remember his name either.

GTS is worth it. Starts in D2, removes some of the 1st gear stutter (unless the transmission is very cold, then I still get some lurching). Smooths out the shifts 1-3 and makes 4-6 more aggressive under WOT.

My car has the Dinan tune on it and if I recall correctly also starts off in D2. I wonder how much it differs from the GTS?

ALL of the aftermarket DCT tunes are tweaked GTS tunes.
