Should I pull the trigger on this 2009 M3 Sedan?
Hi fellas, i'm looking to get into the BMW family and here are the facts of the car i'm looking at.
2009 M3 Sedan 6 MT with Premium package, navigation and 62,400 miles. Metallic gray exterior with black leather interior. The 6 speed manual is quite rare in Florida, especially in sedan. Never seen snow. 1 Owner. Private party sale. Clean carfax. No accidents. Garaged throughout day and night. Brake/rotor job done ~1 yr ago. Clutch never been changed. 1 year old tires. Pristine condition. Edmunds shows $25,200 for private party sale. KBB shows around $29,500. Both for Outstanding/Excellent condition. He says he has 3 offers at $25,000 which means nothing but he did state it. I think we are going to settle at $25,500. Do you think this is a decent price? edit: How important do you think it would be to change out the rod bearings? Last edited by beehemdoubleu; 06-14-2016 at 12:37 PM.. Reason: rod bearings |

Price is pretty low...almost to good to be true...
Don't agree to bring any amount of cash with you! Private party ---> be careful Check with Carly if the car is stolen or not by using the pre owner check. Rod bearings can wear out pretty quick depends on how the pre owner treated it, so again Carly is the way to go. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1245204 |

OP, if you can manage to negotiate to around 24k, it would be an okay deal. Remember at that mileage you should have/ need to perform spark plug service, diff service, oil (all around/@ 60k miles). Also at a higher mileage you may have to (but might not) look into replacing the clutch. When you say brake/rotor, does that mean brake pads/fluid or new rotors?
Rod bearing services cost anywhere from +/- $2.5-$3.5 k from an indy What I'm trying to get across is that you should negotiate the price low enough so that after all the necessary maintenance, that the seller may/ may not have performed, you still come out in a good place. |

Sounds like a great deal to me - to each their own, but I'd feel way more comfortable buying any car from its original owner as opposed to a dealer. Buying from a dealer only guarantees that you're padding someone's pocket, nothing more. You're doing the right thing by having a PPI done. Don't overthink it or start reading the internet too much - these are generally solid cars, so if the PPI checks out just go for it...that's a ton of car for $25k

You would need a rod bearing job if it hasn't been done
