Oddly, the inside wore more than the outside. I run -4ish camber in front and rotated every 2-3 sessions. This camber, toe and rotation usually results in even wear. I plan to flip them on the rim before the next weekend. [IMG][/IMG]

They’re molded pretty deep and have a lot of void at the shoulders for a “track” tire

Probably just uneven because they squirm a lot at full tread. Look at that sweet camber from deflection on the center rib

I need a set before April, so I'm debating if this is as good as it'll get for me, or if I should hold off...

It's been hard to find sales lately, so I went ahead and purchased. I previously found eBay to do 15-20% off any order coupons every quarter, and for a period, every 2-3 weeks. Maybe towards the end of March? I needed new tires so I locked in this $898 set.

At full suspension droop the inner sidewall touches the rear subframe, however, under load it clears. Rear fender liners are still in place, and no modifications were necessary. I'll have more feedback once I put the car through its paces on track.

I'm going to pick up a set of RE71R's and wondering if I should get them heat cycled or just put a few miles on them before my first track day of the season.

The RE71R's are great tires. Ive know of sum Bmw drivers that love them and have ran some fast times on them.Don't think you can get as many events/time out of them as the NT01's. Ive run two sets of NT01's for a season of racing and still have plenty of tire left. Im gonna run them till they damn well cord and then junk them. I would say the Nt01's are the best bang for the buck out there.Like any tire you will have to find out what pressures your car likes and adjust. Rotate the shit out of them for best tire life. If your running a square set up all the better.

I'm using my ZCP wheels and the NT01's don't have sizes that work. Seems like the Bridgestone is the next best thing.

Sorry I thought you might have 18 inch wheels. Have you thought of getting yourself a set of apex or other brand 18x10 25mm offset wheels and have a set just for your track days? Rubber is cheaper than on 19 inch wheels and they will pay for themselves in the long run. Not trying to spend OPM here though.The ZCP wheels are nice for the street( I have them on my E92) but your M would perform a lot better with lighter wheels for track days.Shit, if you were in Az I would let you borrow a set just to show you the difference.

Yup time to get 18" wheels. 275/35/18 is very common. Apex EC-7 and SM-10 fit my 380mm BBK - no excuse!

Skip the 18x10 and just go with 18x10.5. They are a better fit for some of the wider rubber you'll be able to fit with your JRZ's. I just mounted a square setup of 285/35/18 RS4's on my 18x10.5 et 25 wheels (I have the JRZ RS2's). I was able to make room for them by moving from a tender spring (max height of 1") to a thinner helper spring (max height of .5") That let me raise the perch enough to clear the tires. They rub the fender liner at full lock but you'll never put that much steering input on the track. The RS4's run a bit short for their size; they are only about .1" taller than most 275 tires.

I've never used NT01 and my last set of RS4's were 265's (they were out of 275's and I needed something). My RS4's did chunk a bit in warm weather so I'm hopeful that the larger 285's will hold up better. I'm heading to the track this weekend so we'll see how the 285's perform.

Listen to this man We specifically designed our SM-10 and FL-5 18x10.5" wheels with an ET22 offset, which allows them to be a direct fit on the front of E9X's M3 with stock suspension as well as a variety of aftermarket coilovers without the need for spacers. The lower offset also helps create a more flush fitment in the rear.

The 10.5" wheel better supports common track day and race compounds which tend to run wider than your average street tire. 275/35-18, 285/35-18 (slightly tall up front but still works) and 295/30-18 are all great options, and each driver should choose something that suits their experience behind the wheel, meets their life expectancy goals, and abides by any class rules that may be at play. These compounds perform and wear best with negative camber dialed in.

My personal favorite r-compound "HPDE" tires right now with our 10.5" ET22 square wheel setup are 275/35-18 Nitto NT01 as well as 295/30-18 Yokohama Advan A052.

Thank you- I'm not a perfect driver but a better driver drove my car on Sunday. Could use a bit more front grip... maybe 285 is it. Any word on NT01 in 285? A 30 or 35 ratio to fit?

As far as square fitments go:

275/35-18 - 25.58"

285/35-18 - 25.85"

285/30-18 - 24.73"

295/30-18 - 24.97

The only 285/35-18 relevant here would be the Hankook RS-4, and many have ran this configuration with both 18x10" and 18x10.5" wheels. The 285/35-18 is a little tall up front as previously mentioned, but they do work as long as you pay attention to clearance. In 285/30-18 you have a broader spectrum of tires to choose from including RE-71R, AD08R, Direzza ZIII & Cup2's, but they are quite short.

Since you are currently running NT01's, I would not backtrack to an extreme summer tire unless of course, you are strategically doing so to meet a particular class rule. If you really want to run wider tires, you could either pursue a more aggressive semi-slick like a BFG R1S, Hoosier R7 etc. in 275/35-18, or you could stick with a "streetable" r-comp like Advan A052 in 295/30-18.

If I recall, you recently moved to NT01's from extreme summer tires, so I would get more seat time with the NT01's and maybe focus on making suspension and alignment adjustments to address front end grip and turn-in.

I'm guessing that eBay and/or DTD doesn't see a need right now to spend marketing promotion dollars on boosting top-line revenue numbers.
