gloss black

I had the guys at IND paint my grill surround, side grills and front lip jet black to match the shadowline trim on my e90. Kudos to IND for an excellent price, job and turn around time.

Looks really good. I wanted to do something similar on my OEM grills but after hearing complains that it will chip and peel, Im holding back.

But I might give it a try...

My grills are replacements, I still have the stock ones. I think that the OEM chrome ones would still be more susceptible to peeling no matter how well the chrome is prepped.
I would get in on that buy with the WheelSTO for painted ones.

looks awesome. i painted mine flat black myself and i've had no problems with peeling. as for paint chips, if a stone hits any other part of your car, it will also chip so the grill is no different. at the very most you'll get it refinished every 2 yrs or something.

I had a good local body shop fill the M3 sticker, paint the grilles gloss black, and smoke the side turn signals to match the Shadowline trim as well. It came out awesome. The side of the car looks more stealthy and clean now without the M3 badge. Here's what mine looks like:

I painted my side grilles gloss as well to match the trim. No peeling and it looks great matching trim. I just bought the matte black replacements for the front though.

Is that a translucent flat black on the signals? I didn't know that was possible.

It's gloss black (just that the iPhone camera sucks), but I think a matte / flat black is possible.

Looking good I like it. Matches the glossyness of the lip.

Just to the sides. Decided to do the monochrome stripes and matte black M3 badge in the back.

Interestingly, the turn signals are still visible both during the day and at night.

Won't chip any more than the rest of the front end, unless he's got a PPF

I was all into getting my grills and gills in matte black, but now I think I'm going to go painted. That looks hot!

The glossy black looks good on the AW,but too bad the lower grill and front lower vents can't be painted as well. Or I guess it can but would take too much work to do.

It's actually not that much work. There are E92 owners that have painted there front lower mesh with spray paint, and a sponge stick. It actually came out look good. Of course, you can always order a replacement part from the parts counter and have a body shop paint it Jet Black (the mesh is very cheap).

PS: I think Gloss Black would look better than Matte.

It's actually gloss black, but the iPhone made it look like matte
