You make some good points -- But in my case I though it made sense to get the last E92 and then upgrade in a couple years when I would normally anyway.

I definitely know what you mean about the computers -- I work in the industry and I always end up buying the newest MacBook Pro each time they release one... to say nothing of my bank account balance

My 2011 M3 had a leaking tranny that was eventually replaced and it was well into its product lifecycle. And this is the biggest issue out of all my BMWs. Luckily it didn't cost me anything but a few trips to the dealer.

I'm not talking about manufacturing defects, I'm talking about key features that can't be retrofitted without costing an arm and a leg.

If the M5's comp pack is any indication, a similar M4 comp pack may add more than looks, it will likely also add power. Thereby turning early adopters into the new "Civic" drivers.
and as a civic owner, I refuse to own another civic and be made fun of on the playground

that's b/c it'll sell like hot cakes! absent another worldwide economic collapse like the 2008 crash that tanked the car market.

yeah...just look at the 997 model The final models are much more desireable in terms of features and updates than all their equlivalent 997.1 models.

i was reviewing sales data over the last 10 years, and it was just appalling. Some manufacturers and models had a 50% to 70% decrease in YoY sales!
