If these cars cannot reach their maximum speed that they're geared to doesn't that beg the question of why wouldn't we shorten the final drive ratio and improve torque?

OK...I'll settle this little squabble...
For the record the fastest I've ever gone was just over 239mph at Indy...of course it didn't count because it was a practice run

Because you'll never go that fast on most road courses.

My wife’s tunes c63 c6.2 has touched 200. Does it take awhile ?yes but that car barely makes 400whp all this talk of using math is pretty funny from those who have never attempted it.

Two reasons: Fuel economy at normal highway speeds (BMW still has to worry about CAFE standards) and noise.

A tuned C63 is going to be making at least 500 bhp at the crank (the stock car is either nearly 470 bhp or 503 bhp in S trim), so the math still works.

Incorrect stock is 451, there is no S trim for a w204 6.2 c63/

Its also weighs 300lbs more than m3 and has a worse drag coefficient than a m3.

The Cd is 0.27 for the W204 AMG C63 vs. 0.30 for the e90 M3, and stock power for the W204 C63 ranged from 451 to 487 bhp (Euro market cars has performance packages raising power to 518 bhp). According to you, your wife's car is "tuned". Again, you cannot escape the laws of physics...

the crank hp doesn't mean much when they have a transmission from the 90s that pulls off 100hp before reaching the wheels. a stock c63 average dyno is 350whp. even a 507 edition still don't crank 400whp stock and with a tune not much changing as they aren't the detuned car that comes in the non performance pack models. why mention a 520 model that ultra rare and still speed limited to 187mph I'm not sure but the point was you were quoting numbers off a w205 when the car that was mentioned was a w204 6.2 vs 4.0 bi turbo hence the correction to your quote.

all to the say and back the point that a 400whp can break 200mph which is what I was saying. lol. wow.

The figures I quoted were from the pre-2015 C63 (2007 - 2014), which makes it a W204. And the power figures that I was giving were at the crank. If you bothered to read the article that I posted you would see that the author made a point of discussing powertain losses when he concluded that 450 bhp (at the CRANK) might be sufficient to reach 200 mph, but only with nearly perfect aerodynamics, minimal frontal area, and low rolling resistance tires. The point is that a stock e9X M3 is never getting to 200 mph no matter how much you protest.

400 WHP translates to at least 480-500 bhp at the crank with a slushbox, given average losses of about 20%. So your point was...?

Seems like we need GPS proof of the W204 reaching 200mph to continue you guys' argument.

Wow, this has sure gone to the gutter! I believe he was comparing another car with similar hp reaching 200mph since his supercharged one was shot down for not being stock?! If someone says they've done 200 and they're lying then let them live in their own lie while you have your doubts. I do know an E60 M5 can hit 200 stock, which would have similar WHEEL hp as a tuned E9xM3, so I don't see why it wouldn't be feasible
