Post rod bearings been done, weird sound

Hey guys have had my rod bearings done about 500km ago and has been fine so far,
But today I could hear a noise on idle, can't work out what it is exactly.
I have posted a video of it below, any feedback would be great.
Thanks

Interesting, call me crazy, but I thought I heard a similar sound on my car.... now I want to know. My car runs perfect, no issues, bearings were done preventively at 79k (and were not bad at all). I also just had my primary cats welded back on.....(nyc) inspection :

Hahah this one has me baffled, is yours a 6mt?
I was thinking possibly clutch or flywheel but the noise doesn't go away when I push clutch in.
Also probably should mention the car was sitting for about 2 weeks before I took it for a drive and heard this noise

I definitely hear some sort of knocking. My car doesn's sound like that from inside.
Can't hear it when you rev it up but the exhaust is loud so that might be why.

Shoot the video around the engine compartment and maybe it will pickup the sound better and less of the exhaust noise..

Worrying!!! I ll get another vid tomorow and post it, is it possible to be knocking already?, the new bearing only have 500km on them and up until now it's sounded pretty normal to me.

The shop who installed it should provide a warranty if it's bearing related, check with them perhaps?

Can't hear any knocking at all but if you refer to what in my ears sounds more like a ticking noise, I have the same at certain rpms before as well as after RB replacement. Use to go away after a few good red lines though (strange but true, guess I granny the car too much..). Will be interesting to hear your other video.

Cheers

I hear the ticking too but if you turn up the sound and listen through the ticking you can also hear a slight knocking also. You can only hear it in the beginning and as he starts to rev. Once the revs go up all you hear is the exhaust.

Might be normal but I don't hear that on mine.

Yes it's like a ticking/ taping metal sort of sound, can't really explain it. I may possibly have heard a less intense version of this noise in the past but today it did seem to sound louder and more evident today. I will get the other vid up tomorrow and see how it compares. Maybe it just needs some redlines hahah

I don't hear any knocking. Light ticking and exhaust sounds due to the tubular headers often fool people into thinking they're in imminent danger.

Turn off the Air Conditioning and see if you can still hear what you're worried about. Compressors can cause a sound just like rod bearing knock.

Hope it's only the exhaust noise!! Ac was off though.
I was thinking as it s a 6mt that is could be something to do with clutch or flywheel but it continues happening even when clutch with depressed:

Just a guess, but is it possible that they might've put the wrong type of oil?

Youre freakin paranoid dude. That engine sounds beautiful. If you had rod bearings done just recently and you are already freaking out you should just sell the car before it starts costing you sleep, or your hair begins to fall out. Or you can go to a different shop and have them do the rod bearings again every 5000km.

Take a video with your hood popped in the engine bay. I have a very similar sound but mine was way louder. I thought it was rod knock, took it to MRF, turns out metal shavings in my oil and filter. He pulled the bottom end and bearings didn't spin but were very damaged, crank was fine. Bearings were replaced and he explained I still have the ticking noise, I'm 90% sure that's what I heard the morning I thought I heard rod knock so I don't think I ever had rod knock it's just coincidental that my bearings were failing lol. Malek explained that he believes it's Vanos related, possibly the solenoids or the actual Vanos gear. I'd like to see a video of your engine with the hood popped as your hear it much easier that way atleast on my car. But from what I hear on the video your sound sounds exactly like mine. I will say I've driver 3k miles since the bearing job and no issues so it's not rod bearing knock or tick.
