Going Rate for a Used Lime Rock M3?

Hey all,

New member over here on this forum, but any MFEST guys will recognize me from that forum. Down to business, I've been tracking this Lime Rock M3 for a few weeks now:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...gIndex=9&Log=0

I'm not sure exactly what LRPs are going for nowadays since all of them for sale will be used and probably inflated, but this car started out at $78k and dropped to $71k last week. It's also been on eBay a few times and never met reserve. Price still seems too high IMO, but what do you guys think is a fair price for this car? I've run searches on the forum and only got info on new LRPs back from last holiday 2012

Also, anybody have any experience with Crevier BMW? I've dealt with STBMW, Center, and Pacific all in the past and was very pleased with my experiences, but I'm getting mixed reviews on Crevier.

If you can wait a little longer, Im sure once the M4/M3 are getting ready to come out you will see a lot more come up for sale which will bring down the price.

good to know, i haven't made contact with them since i felt they were way too ambitious with their initial asking price of 78k. im waiting for them to possibly drop it below 70k before i make a formal inquiry

What sense does that make? If you want the car and have a price in mind then just make an offer and see what happens. The car may be sold before you work up enough courage to make an offer.

Around $65K now. Or wait till the M3 comes out and it will be under $60K.

As far as M3's go we may have 1 left a used 2011 coupe but that could be gone as of yesterday I am not sure. Best bet is to shoot David an email at bmwdavid@icloud.com and let him know what your looking for and he can contact you if anything comes in. Being that we are the number one M dealer in the country we get a lot of units in and out of the store.

We also have great deals running on new M5, M6, and every other BMW if you are looking for anything else besides a M3

No such thing as a 6-speed automatic in the M3, either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed automatic...

This car will soon find its owner. It is easily worth above $75k and I am not a fan of fire orange, except if it is the whole GTS package. Even a stock paint coupe with only 7k miles and not even one year old will sell near or at $70k. I bet this one won't be there much longer. From my experience those who downplay the price are either some 335i drivers with the almost an ///M prejudice or understandably people in the market of selling new cars who like to see high value put on the next non V8 M3 not the one they cannot make money on anymore. Nothing suprising and understandable. If you want that car, don't listen to other people and get it for the engine first, package and paint second.

Cheers for the advice everyone. I plan on heading over to Crevier this coming weekend, as I was out of town this past Labor Day weekend. The ebay auction ended last night and did not meet reserve once again, so hopefully thats an added bit of negotiation power for me. I have a specific price in mind, so lets see what they say.

LMU, if you want the car, go buy it. And I have to say that I don't agree with sunsweet... At the end of the day, the Lime Rock color is not something that appeals to the masses. That limits your pool of buyers, hence the reserve not being met and the dealer listing the car for $71k and change. And despite BMW charging $5k or more for individual paints, I think they are like most cosmetic mods where the value just doesn't translate to the resale market. If the car was really worth $75k+, the dealer would be asking for it!

Good luck with the purchase!

Great advice and I agree with your reasoning. I think my initial hesitation came from the fact that the dealer's initial asking price was $78k and they cut $6k off that to what it is now after (I think) a week and a half. Thus, I was inclined to play the waiting game and see if they continue to drop it. I think the reality for me is that I will either be driving this car to work next Monday, or continuing my search for a different E92. Exciting proposition, let's see what happens

I did the same thing for several months finally buying a LMR with 400 plus miles. Paid more than I wanted but I had missed out on at least 10 before by waiting. The lowest price was in the low 70s. My Limerock is a second car and I plan on owning it for awhile. No doubt it will devalue but it will be one of a kind. I really wanted a stripped down version but only saw one of them and it was for sale in Southern California. It had some Dinan mods but the best price they could offer was mid 70s. Plus for me there weren't any local for sale and I had to transport it from Oregon to Florida. I wouldn't wait if you can find one with low miles say below 1500 go for it you won't regret it. Good luck
