Check it out DC: Skyline Run

Skyline Run is a fast drive through the best twisty back roads that Northern VA has to offer. While other runs and events in the area spend a lot of time on I95 in traffic, Skyline Run's are designed to go where the traffic is not and on roads where we can drive our cars the way they were meant to be driven. The runs usually include a mountain pass, and thus the name 'Skyline Run'. I am still working on the route for this one and will update this post once it's complete. This run is for a good cause and your $50 donation is completely tax deductible. Not only that but my employer will match all donations!

Lunch will be at the now traditional Melting Pot Pizza in Front Royal and will be Free.

Simple rules:
Don't speed on main roads.
Don't cut blind corners.
Slow down on blind hills.

Ok, that last one was in Switzerland but you get the idea. Roads this good do exist here.

Does anyone have a favorite road from the last 9 Skyline Run's? I'm thinking 10 should be something special, "The Best of Skyline Run". Any thoughts?

Of all the Skyline runs I've been on, the first one remains my favorite. It was the one where we met at Ihops near Chantilly and included a stop for picture near the river. Perhaps it was because we had all M3 and C63s at the event (with the exception of your M coupe). That's something I really missed in subsequence meets as we get more and more other cars and brands joining in.

Ah yes, "Low Water Bridge," I'll include that into the route - if it doesn't rain the day before

Hey, that's my car in the rear I can't believe it's going to be four years this fall. Looking forward to the 19th.

This should be epic especially with my GP3 to capture the twists :-)

Let's hope we don't have LEO's tailing us...

you're saying subsequent events are not as fun b/c there are too many cars involved? or too many variety of cars?

I've picked the Wounded Warrior Project for the proceeds of this run. I know a lot of great guys who have benefited greatly from them and they deserve it.

This will likely be my last drive with the e92 M3. I'm trading it in for a '95 e36 M3, '03 e39 M5, and a 2013 F31 328. Maybe in 10 years we'll reunite - I'll keep the VIN # just in case.

Likely he meant too many cars. I've done two of these and the smaller group was the better of the two. When it's too large of a group it attracts too much attention and gets a bit confusing.

Of course it is! I haven't advertised this in other forums except for 6speed so I doubt we'll get a massive group, but that's fine with me. Smaller groups are more fun and larger groups mean more donation money, I'm happy either way.

I've spread the word to m3forum, e46F, m5board and I believe it's in the local Bimmer Alliance Facebook page. Responses have been next to nil so id still expect a smaller group.

Thoughts on postponing to June 1 or 8? Gives time to spread the word a bit and I'd prefer to do a Saturday as Sunday morning traffic is usually pretty church-heavy and slow. It also works for me as I need to study for my exam next weekend.

Yeah, I'm thinking we move it to the 8th. Gives me some time to plan it a little better, lets us do it on a saturday.

Go ahead and let everyone know it's postponed to June 8th - for more awesome.
