Nice power bumps. What will become of the GT3 engine? Will they do anything to it for the mid model refresh? A DFI 440-450 hp version would be pretty salty!

ruff I sense Porsche fever coming on.... you are in the early stages... a BMW vaccine might still work, but you'd have to get it soon!

S coupled with DCT does 0-60 in 4.3 (4.1 with the sport chrono pack), which is darn good. Interesting to see how it will run with the M3 with DCT. I believe the gearbox is Getrag so probably similar to the M3 affair. Comfort is set to be better, definitely an area that the old car can be improved upon. p.s. imo rear end looks uglier than before Last edited by gorun; 06-06-2008 at 05:40 AM.. |

0 – 200 km/h 16.6 (16.3) (Carrera)
15.2 (14.8) (Carrera S) Impressive stuff, this means that the M3 DCT would probably run together with the manual 997 S and the PDK will be faster. Below is a pdf with an exhaustive list of the facelift changes. http://www.drivers-republic.com/pdf/..._Cabrio_GB.pdf |

Only for Ruff. My favourite part of the 2009 997 press release:
Direct gasoline injection on the new Carrera engines serves to ensure homogeneous opera - tion of the power unit with a most consistent balance of the fuel/air mixture in the combu - stion chamber at all times and under all running conditions. Such homogeneous operation guarantees optimum combustion maintaining consistently low emissions, without making any particular requirements in terms of fuel quality. Best regards, south

Hmmm... weird setup on the PDK paddle shifter. I've ran through the press release and it says push to upshift, pull to downshift... on both paddles. Counter-intuitive to me
Performance wise, the updated C2S looks to have a small but clear advantage against the E92 M3. I'm very impressed with its fuel consumption though Devo, the updated C2S looks like a great machine I'll decide before end of the year whether to take the M3 or 997S route |

You hit the nail on the head. I can't figure out why I am so caught up in this DFI stuff. It is kind of like Swamp and DCT.... Crazy. |

Porsche exceeded all expectations with this facelift. The 0-100 mph time is quoted at 9.6 seconds for the S with DCT. Porsche is also conservative, this thing is going to be incredible, and it weighs only 3200 pounds with the dual clutch transmission.
Edit: Porsche also raised the redline to 7500 rpm and the launch control on the PDK cars launches at 6500 RPM! Game over at a stoplight. |

I do believe that the S model with or even without PDK will be incredible. More power, better throttle response, better fuel mileage and about 13 lbs. less engine weight, pretty remarkable. But, yeah... like you said launching a 911 at 6500 should be like a cannon with all that traction. |

The other stressor for me will be the PDK or 6 speed option. I may stick with a 6 speed on this car. Keep me posted on what you do. |

The 09 updates are quite impressive. What is the consensus on the LSD option in the US? Will it provide much benefit pulling out of turns on such a rear biased car?

Apparently so, from what I have heard from our European friends. I am equally excited about the 20mm suspension. I plan to do both.

I would hold back on the sports suspension till I find out more on what the new PASM does for the 20mm drop. The last sports suspension (w/o PASM) was actually slower than the regular PASM suspension on less than perfect roads because the car was bouncing around, resulting in loss of traction and diminished driver's confidence.

The new PASM available for the sports suspension will likely solve this problem. |

To what extent does that contradict?
