E92/G80 Side by Side

Went out for a drive today, spotted a G80, and had to get a closer look. Wasn't a big fan of these based on the photos and videos I've seen, but appreciate the looks much more after seeing one in person.

The G80's hood and front-end looks fucking gigantic next to yours, holy crap. I've been hearing reviews saying how big the car is, I can see it now.

The colors on both are great; looks on the other hand....there's a clear winner, but I'm biased. That being said, I really don't mind the new look.

What suspension are you running? I really like the stance. The G80 needs some of that.

Yeah, that green paint looks great. Wish I would have gotten better photos.. The hood is pretty massive. I feel like the hump definitely makes the e4x/9x and f8x stand out from other M models.

Thanks. It's just stock EDC suspension with some spacers. Can't remember the exact size. Maybe 10mm rear, 15mm front.

i got over the ridiculous grille for now
but that rear fender is just ghastly, it doesn't belong there and doesn't flow with any lines of the car

Put a set of updated laser headlights in the e92 and it could still pass as a current model BMW in looks

It's no contest in the looks department. The e92 is a timeless design along with the 507 and e9

I saw IOMG on the G80 at my local dealer. I agree it does look better in person as most BMW's do. The E9x to me is a 8 in photos but a 10/10 in real life.

The G80 looks like a 2 in photos and I'll give it a 5/10 in real life. Just because it looks better in person to me doesn't make it a good looking car.

So many design elements appear wrong with it in my eyes and it frustrates me to look at. I don't think there is a single line or design element that I find frustrating on the E92 or E90. Every single angle, line, curve etc is perfect in my eyes.

Great to see these two side by side. Reinforces just how fugly the G80 is; holy crap.

The new car is totally overdone. Virtually no fluidity, continuity, elegance. Seems devoid of any guiding design principle.

This side-by-side really makes me appreciate how lucky we got with the E9X's design. The overall design of our E9X is just more fluid and timeless. I still feel this way about the E46/E39 as well.

I'm really starting to love the front end (e92 m3 owner here). Slightly boxy too compared to the rounded out e9x. On a non M with honeycomb, the front end doesn't work. It looks really aggressive and works well with the sedan body. Aftermarket lip would completely set it off. Wondering if M2 is really the old M3 though...since BMW split these up, especially with the generational size and mass increase. Just my taste I suppose and very polarizing design language as we see all over the web etc.

Chances are this car is Adam's? He lives in American Canyon and one of the few that orders his early.

Well just on its own, I thought the G80 was "not so hot"

But next to the E92 it looks even worse
in my opinion

The more you look at the G8x, the clearer how much of a killer F8x was in its price, presence and performance. E9x was and is an instant keeper.
