Dr. Colorchip results with pics!

I recently decided to try Dr. Colorchip to minimize the appearance of rock chips and road rash. I started with a small corner of the hood and had fantastic results so far. I will update with more pics/thoughts as I make more progress, but so far it has exceeded my expectations.

If you guys are interested in a DIY I can write one up after I finish.

Looks great and what a difference! You cannot even tell unless you start to really look. Where can you get this stuff and do they sell it for all BMW paint colours?

I purchased it from drcolorchip.com. I purchased the $70 "road rash kit". And yes, they seem to have all (non individual) factory BMW paint colors.

I will say, it works best on the small dots of road rash, those become virtually indistinguishable even from up close. The larger chips, it helps from 2-3 feet away, but up close you can tell they have been filled in.

It takes a lot of time. I tried a test spot on the bottom of my bumper prior to doing the hood, and I went quickly as per the directions. It didn't work out.

I then went to harbor freight and picked up a bunch of cloths, brushes and painters tape. But most importantly I got a floor mounted flood light. I am doing it only in taped off 1ft x 1ft sections with the flood light pointed at the chips to maximize visibility, and doing a few coats over each one. Rather than spreading a large amount of paint over the area, I am concentrating on each chip individually to make sure its complete. That 1x1 section took almost 2 hours to but it was well worth it with the results. Hope this helps!

Dr colorchip is the easiest rock chip repair out their IMO. I've used it on several cars now. Sometimes it's helpful to have another brush but not necessary. It's so easy to apply I don't know how you can mess it up

They also have DIYer vids on their site and YouTube is full of them also.

I've also used it with good results. I was hesitant to try because it seems a little gimmicky but it actually works pretty well. Its not going to fix every ding, but it definitely makes small stuff disappear under casual inspection and greatly reduces visibility of larger dings. Takes a little practice to perfect the technique but its not hard.

It's no different than any other rock chip repair. The flake won't match 100% but it will cover the chip and look better than most paint pens. I've used it on metallic paint and it did the job fine.

Apologies for the sideways pics, not too sure how to fix it.

I just completed the whole front of the car and I am extremely happy with the results. From 3 feet away, it looks like a brand new car!

I'll be writing a detailed DIY in the next few days.

It comes with instructions. Or at least you can Youtube it. This works really well for what it is in my opinion. What I do want to try is how Ammo NYC does it. They use a small medical syringe to apply the touch up paint. I can see how this would be the most even way to apply it.

Yeah, I saw that video too. I'm always a fan of how Larry approaches his craft
