i know ferrari had a part in the engine design, but could you imagine if they just used the previous generation 08-14 ferrari california V8? i think people would be diggin this thing even more.

This is why I won't go with a Giulia... the thing went into limp mode during the C&D shootout. If you do buy one, make sure to get an OBDII code clearer.

A quick check on Cars.com shows there are only 9 QV's in the entire US. Dealerships will have a field day with markups.

Video Comparison

Looks like the guys and R&T did a good comparison video review.

Won't spoil it for anyone but provides some good insight against the F80 Comp as well as the likes of Mercedes and Cadillac.

Just looked and the Alfa Dealer has one here in Chicago. Will most likely swing by to check it out. Unfortunately, at the end of the day given what we know of Italian cars of the past, reliability + depreciation provides that even if it ticks all the right boxes, one should wait a few years before pulling the trigger.

Edit> and then they never brought the manual trans over here, so a detractor for me at least.

This...(see above)
I owed an Alfa...fun car...temperamental...you'd be well served if you're a DIY'er...otherwise make sure you've got deep pockets...like the M, it can get spendy quickly...

i really like the car, i just don't know if i'd like the turbos. its such a similar platform to the m3 that i couldn't bring myself to get one just because of that (front engined, rear wheel drive performance luxury car).

I saw a "base" AWD car today on the 19's with an older dude driving and it made both want him and want to be him. I need to go sit in one of these soon, from the outside, they're just plain pretty, and it just looks SMALL which is my favorite thing about the ATS and my least favorite about the F30 which is just large to the eye and the butt, even though it's only about 1.5" shorter overall than F80 it has a slightly longer wheelbase so it looks more stretched over the wheels

One of the things that's encouraging to me about the reviews so far is the QV they say, drives like a real turbo engine, not a turbo engine trying to pretend it's a big lazy V8. I miss turbo lag and rushes to redline from back before somebody passed an unwritten rule that all turbo motors must make peak torque at 1500rpm. Drove a 996tt recently and it was refreshing to say the least to be reminded why turbo used to mean more fun, not less

Impressive to see how much they claim the Comp package has improved the F80 M3. It would have been better to hear Randy talk about how each car performed on the track relative to the other, given the results they had. I'm sure there's a lot more story to be told.

Welp, test drove one.

Good car. Despite weird ergo compared to my familiar homeland BMW driver's seat in the F80, Like more than F80. Engine is TURBOCHARGED. Unlike F80, sounds worse inside than out. Steering is sub-lime. Chassis responses in general, perfect. It settles down nicely with shocks turned down but never gets limp, something I dislike intensely about the F80 driving modes (besides the fact that there even are driving modes, because they're dumb, just make a good cars stop making me figure out how to make it work right).

It didn't break on the test drive.

Automatics are annoying, driver aids and nanies are annoying, mandatory touchpad screen things are annoying. Single hump six speed 4lyfe

You can tell they put the interior money int he Stelvio. Much nicer place to be, IMO, than the Giulia interior, mostly because Giulia driver space seems designed for some other species of animal. Door card and B-pillar in particular on the Giulia seems designed for people withoout left elbows.

Going to attempt to get a Stelvio Quadrifoglio home for the wife to test-drive. I think it might be right up her alley (Macan appreciator, but doesn't want to be seen coming and going at every stoplight)

But still like my car better, which was apparent from the first shift, brake, gas, and turn of the wheel.

Don't sell your E90M.

The end.

Giulia Quadrifoglio engine & chassis likely performs better than the M3 e9x/f8x but the interior design, materials & overall build quality I feel is much below than BMW M levels. For those who make decisions based on numbers, yes Giulia appears to be better than M3, not for me though!
