Apex - 255/275 or 265/285?
This is for a daily driver, that won't be tracked, so not interested in a square setup
I already own a set of Apex Arc 8s in 9.5" fronts, and 10" rears What tires should I get 255/35 front and 275/35 rear? Or 265/35 front and 285/35 rear? The 265/285 setup is closer in diameter to the oem setup But I'm worried about the 265 being too wide, and losing the sharpness that the oem 18s have Plus the 265/285 setup is heavier 26/28lb vs 25/25lb for the 255/275 Thoughts?

I'm running PSS 255/40 and 285/35 on 18x9.5/10 wheels. I would have gone with a 265/35 F but with the aftermarket short body strut I'm using the adjustable lower spring support is located at the same height as the tire rim bead so I was concerned about clearance. With the 255/285 setup I have not noticed any lose of steering sharpness (also have stock 245/265 PSS setup to compare with) nor any DSC issues. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of this setup. As for the increase in weight for the wider tires - I doubt you'll notice any negative effects on the street from a delta of ~2 lb/tire.

I have Arc-8 wheels in 9.5 and 10.5. I run 265/285 RS-3's. I love this setup! Sticks to the ground quite nicely. (I also have Ground Control Camber plates now too.) Stock suspension.
Here's what it looks like. |

Couldn't have asked for better pics Is that le mans blue too? Looks fantastic Looks like I'm sticking to the 265/285 I love how your rear tires look fat, vs the oem tires Looks butch, like "don't f$&@ with me" Did you notice any different in the steering ? I'm paranoid about ruining the steering feel, wince that's one of the best things about this csr

The color is Interlagos Blue. Regarding difference in steering, its a bit different but I don't mind it at all. Let me tell ya, with the camber plates and the RS-3's, this car sticks like glue. Really really impressive. The RS-3's tramline a bit on grooves, but it's nothing bad. Anyway, I'd say any minor difference in steering is offset by how great the car sticks to the ground in the corners. Good luck with your setup! What tires were you thinking about? |
