Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar® 3R

The Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R that come on the camaro zl1 1le are now available in 18" sizes.
Has anyone tried them? Their target was the pilot sport cup 2's but they cost much less so they seem like a good option for us.

I only see them in one size for 18" (275/35/18).

Price is not bad.

That's a phenomenal tire if you look at the ZL1LE's results but it's hard to say how much is the car making the tire look good. I had heard they were going to release more sizes in this and the Supercar 3 to try to elbow their way back into this market because the Dunlop side of the house hasn't gotten much traction (chicken and egg thing I think, they don't make many Big and Tall sizes in the Direzzas)

I'm a long-time Goodyear h8r but I'd love to have a home-team option next time I buy hot street tires, hoping the Supercar 3 which is also very good gets released in some decent sizes to try

No doubt that that zl1 chassis is part of the equation, but I'd like to think / hope that the tire was developed for heavy cars like ours. It would be great to hear some feedback on durability, longevity, etc.

I've driven the SS 1le with the regular Goodyear's and was very impressed with them on that car so it seems like Goodyear is coming to the table with some good tires.

I asked about this as well, but there's been no feedback for M3s as the tire was released very recently. The feedback from Corvette and other owners is that these are better than Michelin PSC2 and NT01, but they do degrade quicker. That's based on little information about the tracks, driving styles, temperatures, etc making that feedback as good as useless.

A guy I hang with at the track uses them on his 2015 Z/28. He's been pretty happy with the durability, but they're scary in the rain. If you can grab a set on the cheap I say go for it. Otherwise, go for the Rival S.

How do they hold up over a 20-30 minute session? The nice thing about the Nitto's is they stay very consistent and don't grease up. Was thinking of picking up some of the Goodyears to try this year.

Do you have any lap time differences between the Goodyears and the NT01?

They held up real well over five 20-25 minute sessions - in my opinion better than the nittos. I ran a sticker set of nittos five sessions on Saturday at COTA with a best of 2:37.05. Switched the next morning & first session out clocked a 2:35.06 running pretty much the same line. Was really happy with how the car was working and was really able to focus on my driving & finding faster lines the rest of the day. Eventually I was able to clock consistent upper 2:32's by the last session (video is in the track chit-chat thread if you would like to see it).

I will add the Goodyears are freaky slick when they are cold... like driving on ice the first couple of turns of a session. Grip comes on very fast after that though. Even when they start to get a little hot they were still very manageable and could stay within ~0.3s of my fast lap. Nittos for me would fall off much more noticeably about 2/3 of the way through the session.

For reference my cold temps were between 23.5 & 25 psi. That would put me at 34 psi after the 1/2 a cooldown lap and slow trip back to the garage that you get there. 34 hot at that same point was also where I felt the Nitto's worked best on Saturday.

To sum up my experience - all things being equal at least 2 seconds quicker over the 3.4 mile track for me. Also considerably more consistent throughout the session than the Nittos.

Great, thanks for the details!

I've heard some good things about them but not much for our cars yet. Good to hear how well they performed for you and impressive at how quick they are.

Curious if anyone has compared these to re-71r's or run them in the wet?

I've talked to a few Camaro HPDE guys and apparently they're scary in the wet.

Edit: my comments relate to the Supercar 3 (220TW) not the 3R.

Haven't heard good things about wet performance at all. But in the dry and especially at high temperatures they are right on pace or maybe a touch better than RE71s/Rivals. Probably comparable to the new A052s in the dry, but the A052 is better in the wet.

I bought a set of Supercar 3R second hand (bought them mounted on rims) with 1 heat cycle and minimal wear. 275 35 18

Other post was spot on, except that these perform best at 30 cold. This hit roughly 37 hot. I dropped down to 32 hot and got a LOT more push, understeer. This was confirmed with the last owner who said that he experimented and found the 30 cold, 36-38 hot perfect as well. I own a lighter E92, which maybe explains this? Other people at the track were in disbelief at this, I was as well. These like a LOT of heat. If you think they’re good at lower temps, you’ll be shocked by how great they are at higher temps.

Scary for the first 4-5 minutes then a plateau of awesome grip, consistent for a 25 min session. A very predictable tire.

I am running a minimally modified car, with 2 degrees camber and hybrid pads.

Full disclosure, I had to stop early because these would cause my pads to smoke and after about 3 full hours on track, I had noticeable outside wear.

I will upgrade camber and pad compound and see how these tires fare, but otherwise, an excellent tire.

At $380 for PSC2, you might as well just buy real Michelin slicks. There are several 27 65 18 for $400 on ebay right now, which is the corresponding slick size.

For this price, I would strongly consider replacing these with more 3Rs, RE71R, or Nankang AR-1.

I have several ZLE friends that swear by these tires - only downfall is that they are chording them pretty fast, not sure if that's a flaw of the tire of the alignment/suspension geometry of the Camaro. That car also has a few hundred pounds over our chassis as well which is a LOT of weight for that much power. Braking/cornering has to be consuming those tires really fast

That guy in the video is completely distracting as is the noise from the car which i swear is manufactured as it does not correspond to the sections of track.
