Black cars

Guys, how in Gods name do you keep your black cars clean?!
Mines is a Jerez black and I seem to clean it more than I bloody drive it. However soon after its either dusty AF or water marks from rain.
And it's mostly garaged!
Admittedly the UK weather doesn't help.

I'm considering the ceramic coating. Anyone had this done?

I have a jet black and the ceramic pro coating and I'd say it definitely helps with the ease of cleaning, but not the frequency. However it makes it easier for you to drive through a touchless car wash and air dry the car on the way home for example.

I have two black cars. -.-

THEY.ARE.A.BITCH.TO.MAINTAIN.

I have ceramic coated my M3 which does help but it still gets dirty :/

Easier to clean though.

My next plan is to ceramic coat the wheels as well.

Hi,i have a 13 jet black e92,I totally agree i clean more than i drive it,i wax my car very frequently, this really just speeds up the washing and drying process doesnt cut down on frequency.my wife has a 13 rover that is ceramic coated and it is great for chips but still needs to be washed regularly, hope it helps,i think the ceramic is the way to go the clear bra on my m3 i hate

I saw a clear bra on a Porsche that was all yellow and nasty edges curling up. I agree that the ceramics are the way to go. The extra layer they provide for removing swirls on the ceramic down the road is a big plus.

So no water marks? I don't have to polish it etc after?

Clear Bra

Think paint protection film that people normally put on the front of their cars.

Helps with rock chips and known to dull down the paint finish.

No you will get water marks if you let the water sit or after a rain. I have not gotten this part down yet other than trying to drive around a bit to dry it off but sitting in traffic on a 90 degree day you know how that goes. The ceramic pro simply aids significantly in the cleaning but not the final detail of the car if that makes sense.

I believe there are some spray on products that can be used after a wash to help.

Step 1: Wash the car every damn weekend.

Step 2: Wear gloves because god forbid your naked hand gets within 4 inches of the paint, you'll leave fingerprints.

Step 3: Carry a microfiber cloth and cleaning wipes with you at all times to remove the inevitable fingerprints and bird shit.

Step 4: Cry, rinse, and repeat.

I have been using Klasse all in one followed by 2 coats of Klasse sealer with great results on jet black. I can just use a duster on the car and everything comes right off. If I get caught in some rain I just use quick detail spray and it cleans right up. The water beading is exceptional. I have been considering ceramic coatings, just haven't tried that route yet.

Hahahah. This made me laugh. Purely as this is EXACTLY what I do. 😂

I make sure I only close the car door using the back of my hand and only touch the door handle.

If my kids come anywhere near it I have to smoke an ounce of marijuana to keep myself mellow. 😂😂😂

LOL, yea, took me a bit to convince the wife to only touch the door handle not the door when she is getting in or out of the passenger seat. After me jumping out with a microfiber everytime she got out of the car, she finally got the hint.

Here's my story on how I acquired a black car. Most importantly an M3.

It's coz I have a private reg that reads
V8 8LCK (V8 Black)

So I had to have a V8 and it had to be black.

Basically I had a private reg worth a few hundred pounds determine how many thousands I spend on a car.

lol, that weather, those roads, those birds around KFC shitting all over cars around London, i lived in london, it brings up memories lol

he seems to have a good paint in UK mate lol

I know ur pain, I have hard time keeping my Jerez black clean as well
I jus get a proper care (coating, wax) 1~2 times a yr, jus simple hand wash 1~2 every month. Keep your rims clean thou, may sound irrelevant but that makes the car shine 100%

Trees are another problem. The sap! It's ridiculous. Try finding a spot to park with no trees. Fukkin Hell!!!

I know what you mean about the wheels. I have to take a day off between cleaning the car and wheels. Lol.

I think that black is the ultimate color for a BMW. A newly cleaned and polished black BMW is a thing of beauty, for about 5-10 minutes. After owning black cars for 28 consecutive years, I had to change colors or face the real possibility of going insane. Now I just have black wheels and a slight nervous twitch.
