DCT overfilled?

Engine completely cold.

So I changed the dct filter (driver's side beside the oil lines) and a small bit of fluid came out...maybe 1/5 of a liter. Got that all put back together. I then backed out the fill hole and fluid started gushing out, I quickly ran the plug back in. Does that mean it was seriously overfilled?

will an overfill cause over temps since the fluid can't properly cool off???

I got everything patched up, did some runs and hard accelerations and pushed thru all the gears just fine. DCT transmission temp around 93°C...

you are supposed to fill with the engine running and trans fluid at certain temp. It was most likely at normal level when you opened it cold. Check in the diy section for trans fluid change diy for more details.

was the car level when you opened the fill hole?

Anyways people try real hard to over fill the dct trans oil. It’s seen as a positive.

I’d worry you are now underfilled depending on how much came out when you open the fill hole.

Was it running when you filled it initially?

If yes, then it is normal that oil drains when you open the fill plug when the car is off as the oil settles.

If no, then you cannot tell if it is filled to the correct level because of what others are pointing out. Fill should be done with engine running. Check the procedure for specific steps.
