Most cost effective Mod
I just got my 2011 E93 M3 DCT and I am looking to my first performance mod. I am not sure what to do I was thinking of doing the Dct tune or some other tune but really don’t know what would be the most cost effective performance mod. I really don’t have a lot to spend so I would greatly appreciate your opinions as to what you believe would be the best for me to do.

Test pipes, but they trigger a cel and you can’t pass obd2 plug in so then you need a tune that fixes those problems and not all tunes do because it is illegal fir a tuner to sell such a tune for a street car.

Give Alex at Alpine a call, text or email and get the DCT tune. Best money you can buy. After that if it is power focused, go track pipes with the GTS engine time from Alex as well or BPM. Good luck and just some caution, if you don't have a lot of extra money laying around I wouldn't mod the car at all. Save it for maintenance, because man these beasts can be expensive.

Alex does everything remotely, he send you the cord, sets an appointment, logs into your computer and tunes everything. His DCT tune is amazing, search for his thread on here with hundreds of satisfied people. Plus his coding is great, he can turn on a lot of great options. Auto folding mirrors, windows up and down with fob. Navigation acceptance removal. The DCT tune gets rid of the boggy feeling when slowing down or coming to a light. And when you shift gears it is beyond smooth. He did everything on my car in about an hour over the phone.

I don't understand all these engine tunes. What you need is a better spring & suspension if you want to use the stock engine anywhere near its potential. That being said it would be helpful to know the exact budget.

Won't disagree with the suspension stuff, but for those with DCT, the tunes are pretty inexpensive and make a big difference.

DCT tune would be a good place to start. You might also consider just saving up some cash and getting a few things done at once later down the road instead having to jump on something right away.

Get the GTS DCT flash, it's inexpensive and makes a big difference. Get Euro MDM coding done at the same time to give you a bit more slip within the safety net. Alex@alpine can sort you out. If you take it to ACM (auto couture motoring) they can help if you don't have a laptop.
An aftermarket drop in filter is $100 or so and adds a nice bit of induction noise and a few horses, the charcoal BMW one sounds a touch more muted. Tires can be a massive performance upgrade depending on what you are currently running. After that I'd look at exhausts, but thats a whole other rabbit hole... |

Might want to look into the oem exhaust mod too. Not necessarily a gain in performance but it will seem like it since you will finally be able to hear the engine especially with a vert. That is certainly the most cost effective exhaust option. You can do it yourself for free if you know how to cut and weld.
Search ACM mod, 2 pipe, 4 pipe and oem mod in the search bar and you will find plenty of threads. Listen to some YouTube clips too. It does sound good for how cheap it is. |

Cat delete and tune. If you must retain the cats, do the front primary cat delete, tune and a good filter.
