Called it!

My father came to this dilemma and decided to restart our collection of DVD's in Blu-Ray Quality (1080p) and we are working on 1400+ DVD's and up to ~50 Blu-Rays so far. We got a pre-release of the BDP-S1, a pretty sick Blu-Ray player.

Blu-Ray FTW,
-Chris

the superior technology wins at last.

i really disagree with many/most sony's practices but blu-ray is clearly a better HD medium than HD-DVD. i'm really happy to see this news.

The nice thing about the PS3 is that it upconverts your old DVD's to
1080p....and it looks pretty damn good.

Blu-Ray will be out of date within a few years. Blu-Ray is the new Windows 95.

Harmony seems to always get blasted in online reviews. Had never considered it, really, because of all the bad press.

All remotes $100+ dollars are programmed through online software - URC, Pronto, Harmony, RTI - through a USB port.

I'm currently leaning toward the URC 980.

Yes, most high-end remotes are setup online / on the PC. I don't know what your level of experience is with mid to high end home theater.

I have 2 of the 880's. I can't speak to other Harmony remotes, but I've been very pleased with the 880. I wish the body wasn't smooth plastic, I'd prefer rubberized. Other than that, it's excellent.

Agreed - They are VERY easy to set-up online. And if you do have a problem their tech service is actually very good! I had an issue with mine. Also because they don't get the info from the manufacturer but from users the database of uses on products is always updated. Very nice!

The only part about the harmony that kinds sucks is you cant control the PS3 with it since it's Bluetooth. I have the Harmony 1000 and it's money, except for the non Bluetooth capabilities... I wonder if Logitec makes a BT compatible remote?
