They also control the speed of the shift of the manual mode too.

5 modes in auto

6 modes in manual, with the 6th one only available with DSC disabled.

It's interesting to see 6 of the 8 shift lights come on at only 7300rpms when the shifts occurs. I wonder if that is setting specific.
If it's anything like SMG the lights will start to come on at varying rpm's depending on the gear you are in. Obviously revs rise much quicker in 1st gear as opposed to 6th gear.

I wouldn't have thought it is setting specific. The only thing I think you'll be able to change in the settings menu is whether the shift lights come on or not.

Can't see where there will be additional lights. I think when all the lights are lit, they will flash as opposed to any additional lights.

Oops, lost in translation.
What I meant was "additionally"...

Funny, it doesn't look much like the Getrag unit everyone was saying it was...

LOL, that actually wasn't what I was getting at. I had forgotten too, till you mentioned it.
I was joking about the fact you said "you like lights".

I wonder if it would be possible to add those shiftlights into a 6MT car... Loves them madly!

I hope you are pleased with the "official" announcements on everything that has come to pass.

The full media presentation goes on line Monday .
There you will see the Jerez Black M3 Cabrio and all the full details and animations that incorporate the new BMW M3 Cabrio and the new M-DKG or M-DCT in action . The presentation will be very visual.

Also there is an introductory to the new Official BMW - M-Power Forum titled "The Chase" Which is very amusing for us to show a typical media shoot but when this happens in real life I assure you it is not .

The casing definitely doesn't match the one shown in the Getrag photo but maybe the guts are the same. But if this isn't the box shown in those photos then which car is that gearbox for ?????

That is true. Getrag developed this speculatively, I take it. Once BMW came on board as a customer, the housing and other things likely would be developed for the specific application. I'm not saying the M3 unit is not this one, but I'd just like to know.

Ugh, no sound for me either, will have to try a PC tomorrow.

South, translation, please ... I know a lot to ask for the cofounder of the MT club...

Some (better) still pics for everyone.

I bet the internals are Getrag, the technology from Borg Warner and the tranny housing from BMW with input from Getrag (or vice versa). The web picture is just a generic view of that torque capacity.

Swamp, that a wee joke so no need to write a six hundred word essay on how such a thing is invaluable.
And no reason to write a twenty word whine/gripe session critical of too much user configurability neither.
