Steering wheel doesn't lock

I just swapped out my oem steering wheel with an alacantara non-electronic performance wheel. I was able to rotate the wheel to ease my access to the torx screws that secure the buttons and trim, which was nice.

However, when I went to use my torque wrench on the nut, I found that I couldn't get the wheel to lock no matter how much I turned it in either direction. At the time the negative terminal was unplugged, was that the issue?

Thanks in advance,

Steering wheel does not lock when car is off. Kinda weird but that's how it is.

You may want to code that out, they are known to fail. Only early cars had them

I like that I doesn't lock, makes it nice when your working on the car on a rack and need to rock the wheels left or right
