Strange Popping Sound?? What gives?
Anyone else experiencing this... occasionally a very loud electronic pop or snap appears directly over the drivers head? This has most recently occurred within 5 minutes of starting up (only in the morning or first time driving for the day)? One or maybe two loud pops or snaps... then nothing more. Sounds like something metallic dropped on the carbon fiber roof??? In the past, this has occurred after driving for long periods (like doing chores... starting and stopping at stores over the course of the day). More significantly during the summer months. The popping/snapping has lasted for minutes... even lasting until the car is turned off. Once or twice it continued when the car was off and parked in my garage??? Normally never happens two days in a row??? Very odd... my local BMW dealer cannot find the challenge... of course, when I bring it in, the sound has already stopped!
