E92 Market - Good Time to Buy

I have been looking at a low mileage 2013 M3 Coupe with 12,000 miles, cloth seats, no nav. Just wondering if its a good time to buy or if prices will keep slipping due to the new M3, M2, the potential maintenance risk, and the gas mileage with these cars. Trying to buy close to when they bottom out in price.

IMO, timing any market is difficult at best. But, I'm sure there are more knowledgable people on here who can give you a better answer.

Now, about that car lol. It sounds amazing... just curious, is it manual or DCT? What color is it?

That's a tough to find ride. It's the last year, too.

If it has ZCP I'd venture to say it's going to be only second in value to the Lime Rock cars.

What are they asking for it?

Here's another nice one with slightly higher mileage with some upgrades, 6mt and no nav but no CF roof. Its on ebay too.

Yeah, other then having electric seats, non-zcp or lime rock. Its pretty much an idea car, I have never seen lemans blue in person but looks like a nice color. Asking $30,000 USD, the rod bearings will need be done at some point $3,200 CDN.

A car like this in the US would list at high 30's - low 40's. It sounds like a deal if all checks out.

Dang, 30k seems like a good price. If you like it, I would go for it sooner than later, but that's just me

Sounds like a car someone will put in a bubble or EAG will snatch up with low options, carbon roof, ZCP, and 6MT.

Clean car reports mean nothing, multiple cars I have purchased have had "clear records" only to have hidden repair work done.

But other than that seems like a good deal.

All too often. Went to look at a vehicle to purchase earlier this week with perfect CarFax. Car had obvious (and terrible) paint work done to the front right (metallic paint from manufacturer and non-metallic paint work), exhaust was shifted about three inches to the left from where it should be, blah blah blah.

But the car has a perfect CarFax and is being listed at a price reflective of it!

E92s are great values right now. I believe well-spec'd, low-mile, clean, late-year E9Xs will continue to hold value pretty well from this point forward. They are at an attractive place in their depreciation curve.

Its always a great time to buy an M3!

I'd say the vast bulk of depreciation for clean e9x's has happened. I wouldn't buy it expecting to make money, but based on that spec you listed it shouldn't lose much value depending on how much you pay, how many miles, upkeep etc. Bear in mind though these are German luxury cars so when things go wrong it can be expensive regardless.

Just bought one...

Hey guys - I was not in the market for a BMW, had very limited knowledge on the brand. BUT, I recently stumbled across a site that had the E92 Apline white / fox red interior and i fell in love!! That was last week, and I bought one yesterday :-) After checking around it seems the market is "low" for that vehicle, and tough to find desirable color / option combos. I did a nationwide search on several auto sites and results were limited. So when I saw a 2008 alpine white / fox red / 6MT for hit the market I literally left work - test drove it - and bought it!
No one knows the market - but i doubt these cars are gonna drop in price any time soon...
BTW, it did not have the NAV DVD - so I found the 2015 map and burnt to DVD my own. If anyone needs one shoot me a PM - I will happily send on out - FREE! Caveat is it only works in the ccc idrive MY2008, I believe.

The issue you face, is that these cars are in demand at present, if you dont buy someone else will and then you have to hope, if and when these cars bottom you find the car you want in the miles, condition, options etc etc..

For low mileage cars with desired specs prices will not drop significantly further. Availability of clean cars is becoming a real issue for buyers. If you found a car that you want and are satisfied with the price, I would not hesitate.

I think its safe to say they are at the bottom of the depreciation curve with the natural low depreciation happening every year with additonal mileage etc...
