My car turned that yesterday. No drama. Everything works (except the passenger seatbelt extender arm--never has), the car runs perfectly, still makes me smile daily. It's been my DD for 15 months, and after some fairly big initial precautionary repairs (rod bearings and TBAs), it's been pretty flawless. I did finally replace the rear brake discs, which I am sure were original, but for pretty much the last year straight, it's behaved perfectly.

Pretty decent from a car this exotic.

I'm at 102k now, and only thing that's actually crapped out which should not have is one rear door lock actuator.

Everything else I've spent has been purely my own neurotic preventive maintenance, or wear and tear from being 10 years old.

Brakes, tires and gas on gas on gas, oil changes, DCT fluid swap, brake fluid swap, rear diff fluid swap, front hood emblem fell off, angel eye halo DRL, etc...oh and rod bearings.

At 157k miles I've only had to replace my throttle actuators and a breather valve. I'd say these are some pretty dang reliable cars. Factory rod bearings

165,326 and nothing has failed. I stopped worrying a long time ago. This forum is very helpful but is filled with pessimism regarding this car. I think most people have purchased as second owners with high hopes without doing any looking into things but that's only my opinion.

LOL and I am going to replace my Rod Bearings at 36k miles. I am sure I could go another 100k miles on the OE bearings

They also purchased a 2008 with 100k+ miles, because that's all they could afford, which is generally not the best examples

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with this but what do you really expect?

'Nothing' has failed in all those miles? This car is quite reliable but 'nothing' is a big word. I've have both rear window actuators fail in the last year. Cheap plastic crap BMW uses for these parts Had the same issues on my E46.

Some people will think your crazy at that mileage, but you're not. I just had my dealer fix another failed window actuator (mentioned above)...my SA says to me 'don't feel bad, my co-worker is about to call another E90 M3 customer to tell him his engine won't start, not because the start motor is failed, but because the engine is seized' Miles on the car - 47K!

Don't worry dude shit happens. I had a 335 give me grief and it bummed me out. I just fixed it myself and moved on. Sometimes you just get unlucky. Removing the door cards and changing a window actuator isn't that bad. Just some snaps and a few plugs. Just lay your door cards on a blanket so you don't scratch them.

Wow that's low mileage to be replacing. Well I'd say use the BE bearings since they supposedly fix the clearance issues and you'll never need to do them again.

Seized engine sounds like main bearing failure not rod bearing failure.
