Zero complaints about the e92 DCT M3. Best car you can buy for the money.

I didn't like the 997 chassis or steering at all. There is a point of too much feedback on the road - making the drive rather uncomfortable on the street. On the track the short wheel base and engine placement made the car a handful for sure.

The 991's offer such dramatic improvement on the 997's but yeah the price jump is rather hefty.
do you live in a major city with shitty roads? i do - thats probably the only area where too much feedback is a bad thing.

whenever im out on smooth roads, unless its a lotus, feel as though more feedback is better

Nah I live in South Orange County and the roads are driving perfection yet still the 997 Turbo S steering provided jarring feedback. It got to the point of un-drivability when i installed Ohlins coils. At the track I liked the extra feedback but it wasnt a dedicated track car and 95% of the miles were road miles.

The 991 GT3 and Turbo electric steering feels very similar and provides similar feedback to the e92M3 hydraulic steering.

997.2 All Day Over a 997.1 but over a E92 M3
Not sure honestly??

I've had a 993, 996 ,997.2and 991 the best Porsches are the 993 + 991 for me.

The 996 + 997 is a bit boring. Unless we are talking about GT2/GT3 only.

The 993 is extremely mechanical in feeling plus sounds good.

991 on the limit shines over a 997 plus sounds way better too like ALOT more.

992 never driven it but honestly it probably won't disappoint.

E92 M3 is a special car S65 all day!

I looked at a manual 997.1 c4s about 2 years ago and took it on a healthy test drive. I got back to the dealer and hopped into my e90 and immediately forgot about the Porsche. The Porsche wasn't bad but it wasn't obviously better than my e90 in any way. I still want a water-cooled 911 or a cayman some day but for now the M3 more than does it's job to keep me happy.

I test drove two 997.1 cars: a carrera and carrera S. The regular carrera was unremarkable. And the particular example I drove was not in the best shape. I then drove the S and that car was in good shape. Again, it was just too soft and really wasn't engaging. Did have the sense of theater I was hoping for. It drove like a GT car. Although, one thing that blew me away and certainly is not replicated in the M3 is the brake pedal feel. Spectacular.

At or close to the limits, perhaps the 997 is a superior car. I'm ok with that. The m3 has an engagement factor that's really not far off the 997.1 carrera.

What I likely should have driven was a Cayman. That will likely give me what I'm looking for. A 2 seater was not the best way for me to go in 2015, but now, it would work perfectly. I do see a cayman in my future. Though I need to drive one first.

I'm in the process of parting out my highly modified S2000 (supercharger, ohlins, bbk, etc) and was strongly looking at a 997.1 C2S as a replacement. But, my sentiments echo a lot of what was said in this thread - it's a bit too "boring". I would like to drive a 991.1 C2s as I've heard they're supposed to be fun, but I'm a bit afraid that they're even more of a refined GT.

At the present I'm torn between saving for a 997 GT3 or finding an E46 M3.

Um, GT3, obviously.
