Coding new satellite radio

My satellite radio module has been dead for a few months and it's driving me insane because it's all I use. CCC is malfunctioning as a result of course and I'm getting the SOS malfunction too.

I've found a new satellite radio module to replace mine with, but I'm wondering a few things. One, does it need to be coded to my VIN and two will follow below because it's somewhat complex.

When you set up satellite radio, they ask you for your VIN. When I give them my VIN, it goes to my car because it is the original module. How about the new one? Would I need the VIN from the other car or would this one work since it is coded to my VIN?

TIA!

For the record if it helps anyone I did find the solution. The unit should not need to be coded (although I haven't purchased one yet) and you'll simply need the Sirius ID off of the unit to subscribe. It's as simple as that!
