Mashimarho POWER/EDC/DSC button replacements

https://mashimarho.com/products/e9x-...33440699187299

Wanted to review these buttons since I didn't see much about them around these forums, they only seem to pop up in the Facebook M3 group.

Anyway, ordered a DSC button since mine was broken. It was $30 shipped which seemed reasonable. Package arrived quickly. When I opened, disappointed to find the wrong button was shipped and it was the POWER button instead.

In the midst of sorting this out I realized my POWER button was broken too, I just never press it because I always activate it from the steering wheel M button. So I figured what the hell I'll just replace it with the new one and order the DSC button again, hoping the right one arrives.

Before I installed, for comparison's sake I took the old one and the new one side by side and realized it's not even close to OEM and it doesn't look great. If you are particular about stuff matching (and I'm assuming you are if you care enough to replace the button) you will notice the font, color and plastic are all different than the stock button. He makes no claim that these are OEM but they're pretty far off IMO. Another thing, the paint was chipped out of the box on the area surrounding the LED opening, which looks bad.

I realize it's around $200 to replace the whole OEM switch assembly with a brand new one with 3 new buttons, but I'd rather pony up the extra cash to FCP and get replacements for life than buy 3 of these cheap chinese knockoffs and pay again every time they break.

Just my opinion. Anyway, in the photo old OEM is left, new mashimarho replacement right.

Thanks for posting this, my DSC is hanging on by a thread and I did not want to pay $200 for the oem 3 button piece but my OCD will force me to have it match perfectly.

My buttons are broken also and always wondered how would we put new buttons back on? I thought the whole unit had to be replace because the tabs holding them together are broken? Sorry if this is a dumb question

Yeah, so you can get your non-matching, non-properly fitting, sure-to-break-really-fast knock-off parts much quicker!

OP thanks for the PSA, but this has almost always been the case. If it is super cheap it will suck because it will be a Chinese garbage pile and they could care less if it is right, or even close for that matter, because no way will you be paying shipping to return the junk. Money in the bank for them. In this case some middle man buys them and resells them in the states, but it is still Chinese garbage. So many crappy parts for these cars it is almost better to just avoid them all and buy OEM where possible. Just say no.

Just read a story about a 30TB portable USB hard drive that you can buy on Walmart.com for $30. You should not have to be told that this is a serious joke, that they are spending a $1 to build a fake drive and so you are giving them $29 for nothing at all, but you know, thousands of people buy them anyway. It's just sad.

I was honestly just surprised this specific vendor would sell such a low quality product.

Yeah, I have had similar issues with other "known" brands and sellers, and it sucks. I get they need to make a buck, no problem with that, but at least be honest and not push crap that you know is crap.

Sean seems to be a cool dude. I've bought a few items from him.

I bet if you let him know he would just refund you and even pull the item.

They're Aliexpress buttons, I posted them a year ago.

If your buttons are smashed, paying $200 for 3 OEM pieces of plastic is a bit muched. Replacing all 3 so the fonts and ink match and not keeping them side by side most people wouldn't notice the difference. It's a better to have some option other than having to pay $200.

Buying them locally just saves you the shipping time that's it.

Good to know there's buttons you can buy instead of the whole console. Just found out mine is broken this morning.
