crankshaft position sensor failure

Hi forum,

I just had my second CPS failure in half a year. Looks like the sensor was hit by something. The first failed looked even worse, half of the sensor was completely missing.

Does anyone know what is going on? Some debris in the housing hits the sensor?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Will
