What is causing this long crank (fuel pressure?)

Replacing the fuel pump is the only way to replace the fuel filter, as they are integrated. At that age and mileage, replacing it is a good idea whether the pump ends up being the problem or not. Stuck open fuel injectors leading to cylinder scoring and lost engines is hypothesized as a result of aged and disintegrating fuel filter particles heading downstream to the injectors.

It’s the original pump I never changed it. I changed the other side though. There are 2 “pumps” in the tank.

Yeah I’m sure the pump is on its way out. Wouldn’t be surprised if the injectors are next though lol 🤦‍♂️

Were you able to get fuel pressure numbers? I was seeing as low as 3 bar and as high as 5 ish driving around and looking at FP. I’m over 100k and know the auxillary sending unit has been changed along with the injectors on this car but not the main fuel pump. I’m not seeing any long crank issues like you’re seeing. Just trying to collect data points.

That is not true, what you are referring to is the fuel sending unit (with jet pump). The driver side is where the fuel sending unit is located and it has the fuel filter built in, along with a single wire FPR. I believe OP has already replaced this.

On the passenger side you have the fuel pump itself (which also has a jet pump).

You can replace them both independently as I have when I upgraded to two fuel pumps.

FCP has it as I described it. The unit on the passenger side has the filter and is 2-3X the size of the sender unit behind the driver.

Yes I realize what fcp says as when I was looking for the fuel filter I read the same thing. However, here is what the manual says.. left hand side infront if the fpr…also If you look at the fuel sending unit you’ll see in the top half it has a thick chunky filter ontop

Did you find anything else on this? When whoever diagnosed your fuel pump told you it wasn't giving the correct pressure, did they show you what it was reading? IIRC you should have ~4bar at idle

I replaced the fuel pump with an OEM one and it’s still having issues. It appears that the fuel sending unit (driver’s side) is defective. It was replaced a couple months ago for a different (cracked plastic and leaking fuel).

I have replaced field pump, sending unit and plugs. Nothing has fixed it. It happened out of nowhere and I don’t have any codes or pending codes for that matter. It also has a like a stutter when I snap the throttle on a cold start.

I have identical issue to you, with 35k miles. Replaced everything you have including the sensor. Still present lol. Only thing I can think of now would be the EKP module?

Mine has been fixed lol. I replaced the pressure regulator twice because the first one may have had a factory defect, and I changed the pressure sensor at the same time.
