SD BMWCCA HPDE at Chuckwalla - Mar. 29-30 2014

HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOL AT CHUCKWALLA VALLEY RACEWAY
  • Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway (www.chuckwallavalleyraceway.com).
  • Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is only three hours from San Diego, Los Angeles, or Phoenix.
  • The track is 4.5 miles North of Interstate 10 at the Rice Road/Desert Center exit.
  • The school is open to all levels of drivers – from first-timers to experienced drivers .
  • We will drive the track in the anti-clockwise direction.
  • It has some complex combinations, is not too intimidating, is very safe, and is long enough to keep you busy.
  • This is an excellent school track!
Registration is here

Great opportunity for newbie's...

We are introducing a new special offer for this event. If you have NEVER driven on a racetrack before but have always wanted to, we are offering $100 OFF the regular school price. If you have been contemplating the idea of coming out with your brand new, or new to you, BMW, now is the time! Your in-car instructor will teach you to explore the limits of your abilities in a safe environment. Classroom sessions will provide lessons that you will practice out on the track.

Pricing:

Cost to you for this year is only $475. If you sign up on MotorsportsReg prior to March 7th, your price will only be $425. If you decide to opt out of our traditional Saturday night dinner/raffle, your pre-March 7th registration cost would only be $400!

Yep I'm going.

You should get a BMW if you really want to guarantee your admission.

Non-BMW car entries may be accepted at the discretion of the committee. Convertibles, trucks, minivans, SUVs (except X3 and X5) are NOT allowed.

I'm sure I will. This is a fun track with a lot of momentum turns along with the "bowl" turn and smooth asphalt. I hope they run CCW. Weather should be warm but not too hot.

CCW is the path this year.

Doubtful you'll have an issue with getting your VW into the school, USC. But I'd be sure to register early and ask to be sure.

Sign up for the A group where you belong, and you'll get in for sure. Last year, they were throwing a few E9x M3 drivers in the A group because they had too many B/C/D driver and only a handful of A drivers.

Good point. A was undersubscribed and from watching your SMMR video (USC), you are an A student. No doubt.

USC -- let me nose around behind the scenes for you.

Thanks for checking. I'm leaning towards Chuckwalla but only if they'll allow me to bring my roided purple beetle.

Ok, registered....let's see if it sticks. I started tracking with the BMW folks and BMW CCA running good events so it's natural that I still attend. Besides, I can also practice my passing techniques at the BMW CCA events.

Not mine sir, I did the 5-lug conversion on the white one and the purple one came with the 5-lug conversion.

I think tlp made an agreement with the SD chapter that if he posted this thread up they would use one of his pictures.

That would be convenient. 100% spooky coincidence

I pinged them after I got the email and did end up getting some nice hi-res shots from the CCA Director of Marketing & Communications today. The shots were from the O'Fest track event at Laguna Seca.

Are you a BMW CCA member? That helps ensure you don't get put into the D group.

Yeah, I've been a BMW CCA member for years. I don't even want to think how intimidating it and nerve racking would be for the newbies in the D group seeing the purple beetle closing in fast on them (I remember how I would get nervous and thrown off with seeing someone right on my arse).

Is the $100 for newbs already taken into account in the prices you listed? I was planning to register before 3/7 and would opt out of the raffle (I guess?), so would my price be $400 or $300?
