When I went to school in Long Beach in '82 there was a couple of good ones down at the docks.

I've had good stuff from La Isla Bonita...just down the road in Venice...on Rose Ave, just south of Lincoln.

There is a Trader Joe's on PCH, south of the 10 about 4 miles. Right out in front, on PCH they just set up some grills. GRUB!!!!!

Thanks for the tips. I struck out - went to the Trader Joe’s in Marina del Rey and no street food or trucks to be found. In fairness it was a bit early (6pm) and a chilly gale was blowing. Probably not best conditions for customers or vendors. Maybe next time!

It's too late, and it was too far from you, but I'm only aware of one taco truck in the LA area. That's mostly because I live several hours north of LA and I don't get down there often.

Recommended by Indycar's Colton Herta: El Pique Taco Truck, which seems to hang out at 5305 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042, if Google Maps is to be believed. Unless I misheard him while listening to a podcast. I've never visited the truck.

I was gonna chime in (which I kind of am now) and say there's not usually a truck in front of that Trader Joe's. The tacos in front of that Whole Foods are pretty good, though.

Arts District dtLA - Chevillio's. Pretty damn good. Fun area too, moving there soon.

Other great tacos in LA, not food trucks though: Guisado's (several locations in LA) and Puesto (more in the OC). Sonoratown is alright IMO but certainly worth checking out.

The best food in SoCal is in LA, don't bother with Riverside area. OC is hit and miss.

Yeah, DTLA is the type of place you go to for something specific. An event. A location. A restaurant. Nobody goes there just to hang out.

I ended up in the IE briefly for work, that area is just straight up trashy. Glad to be gone.
