Is it time to take the WPC RB out?
Hi everyone,
I changed my OEM rod bearing at 20k mil, changed to WPC treatment rod bearing. I am not an expert, and not saying the WPC treatment rod bearing is bad. Since I am such a ocd freak, every night when I got home, I will listen the idle, and I found ticking! I only had 5k mil on the new RB, again, I am not saying this ticking 100% made by WPC rod bearing. But I am considering to take it out, and maybe upgrade the s65 to 4.4L and fix the rb issue 4ever. I might take it out during my summer, and I will post it. If there is anyone have same concern with me, welcome to leave a common. |

mine were replaced 25k miles ago with oem bearings and bolts at the dealership. i don't hear any ticking but i'm tempted to replace them just to see if there is an wear on them again.

I would say its a better idea that just replace with oem bearings, at least, I can enjoy it for 40k mil and not to be paranoid all day.

And the most sad thing is you can never find the better choice online. People hold different theory depends which they are selling.

Just drive the car and stop ruining your ownership experience with worrying every time. I redline daily and I'm at 69K original bearings.

I think you should put another 5,000 miles on those wpc rod bearings. Mix those miles up with hard commuter miles, track days, and spirited canyon runs.
Then replace them... I think they will only last another 5,000 miles... (I've got wpc bearings for the last 15,000 miles... so far no ticking and I don't plan on changing for another 50,000 to 60,000 miles... I just want to see how wpc bearings look after 10,000 miles) |

Either 1 or 5 I heard the cause of it is main bearing failure causing those two to starve for oil. No waring what so ever either is what makes me mad to be honest. If it would have knocked ok I could have still saved it but now I had to source a used block hoping it's in the condition the seller states.....
