Rear strut Tower reinforcement

Does anyone know if someone sells plates to weld into the rear strut Tower to reinforce them for a coilover conversion?

Don't think it's necessary. My friend uses Nitron coilovers in the rear for his track M3 and never had any problems.

Do you know what spring rates he went with?

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. I’m currently looking at converting to true rear coilovers. Nitrons claims that it isn’t needed and plenty of their customers run true rear coilovers without any issues. However, guys at Intrax recommended to reinforce the shock towers to run this setup but they also mentioned that they have customers running this setup without any issues as well.

I’ve been spending days looking up online but there isn’t much surrounding the subject. Has anybody reinforced their shock towers for our cars without welded roll cages? Or is anybody in here that tracks their cars run true rear coilovers without any reinforcements? Any issues?

Thanks,

Don

It doesn't seem to be a big concern for most applications. I used to think it was necessary, but I'm currently running true rear coils without reinforcement without issue.

That’s good to know. Couple of questions if you don’t mind. Do you track your car? What’s the benefit of running true coilovers in the rear as opposed to a divorced setup? I know that the spring rates are lower with a true setup as the springs are located outboard towards the wheels, the effective spring rates at the wheels are higher.

Won’t you reduce tire clearances or won’t the springs rub against any of the components because of the tighter clearance?

Wondering this also! Good thread to talk about advantages vs disadvantages for Rear Coilover conversion setups
