Coolant Keeps draining

I recently got a used engine fitted as my old engine went. And then I had issues with my water pump as the engine kept over heating. I got a new water pump and thermostat installed. Now I check after driving for around 30-45 minutes my coolant sign comes on. Mind you I had full coolant before and it was totally empty. the fan started to come on loud and I pulled up at home. What can be the problem as I’ve spent a lot of money to fix it. It’s a bmw e93 2008 N43 engine.

Wrong forum for an N54 engine car, but sounds like you have a leak and should do a pressure test to help find it.

There's also a gasket that can leak coolant into the oil and you can check that by checking your oil. See https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1906461
