Thank you, Dave! Yeah, hopefully Matthew keeps tracking east and away from the US coast as it has been.

Ed, I looked Calusa NWR up and it boasts some impressive numbers of wintering waterfowl. Is there a basin that you can get at to shoot a huge goose blast off or something like that?

There is a viewing platform at one of the marshes, and then an auto tour route that circles the complex with several places to pull off and observe. During the prime months you can almost feel the power in your chest when thousands of them lift off.

The Sacramento complex is even bigger and just 20 miles up the road, so I always hit both when I go up. If you are visiting here in winter it is well worth the time to rent a car and head up there. About 2 hours from SF.

Dave, I prefer this one though. I have to watch it during break every day.
Airbus 332 destination Honolulu.
Took some of the F22 flying around but it left from the main airport. I might be able to fix that this weekend.
I got my Canadian F18 plane though

It's uncommon, with both white-tail and mule deer, but it occurs about one in a hundred. It's called drop-tine and it's considered "non-typical".

Great shots, guys.

Spent a few hours today walking around Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Beautiful campus. Grabbed this candid of a couple in front of the performance hall. It was a flawless autumn day.

Since there was a strong, cool wind coming off the lake and tons of sunshine, I was hoping for a nice clear shot of Chicago from the lakefront at NU. The haze was stubborn, though and just wouldn't lift all the way. Maybe it was more smog than haze. I cleaned this up as best I could.

I hate the haze too and hit all my sliders when I have to clean things up. My monitor sees some Magenta haze remaining. Could try a B/W conversion and then play with the rest of the colors to bring in a good shot. It worked for me on a few shots.

What is that hawk, Ed? A dark-morph red-tail, or something else?

Great shot.

It's a darker red-tail. I was actually trying out the auto AF selection on the 5D4 on this series, and it works pretty well for BIF.

I have a couple more at some different settings, I but I wish I could get that noise down a lot more (may not be possible with the ISO it was shot at).

Great, fun shot, Shane. Were you in a chopper or a plane?

Yes, you probably could have shot this at ISO 800, 1/2500-sec and f/8. You really didn't need the DOF of f/22, because you were high above the subject. You do need a high shutter speed for a chopper.

What NR did you apply? If you shot in Raw, then it'd be worth running it through DxO Optics Pro, but the NR in Digital Photo Professional (the Raw converter that came with your camera, is pretty good).

I'm not sure what you're processing with, but "Clarity" in LightRoom will cut some of that haze. ClearView in DxO will do it.
