X-Pipe vs. Rear Section Sound?

I don't think I can do only test pipes. Axle back is $2k plus.

How about an x-pipe only? Would that create enough volume alone? I don't want any smell. I'm searching, but there are so many options... highly confused?

If you don't want smell, forget about an xpipe.

I ran only a catless xpipe with the stock muffler for quite awhile. It was quiet when cruising and had zero drone but sounded good when you got on it.

I ran a fabspeed resonated x pipe for years and it had no smell-maybe a tad at startup but that's it. It keeps the primary cats in place and only deletes the secondaries.

I have RKP sport X pipe with stock rear section. No primary cats, HFC for secondaries. There is more smell. Noticeable on idle, when sitting, but tolerable imo.

Definitely worth having over stock. Much more and better sound on heavy throttle. But quiet when cruising and light throttle. Best of both worlds.

Plus getting stage II tune is another benefit. Car runs much stronger and lively with the X pipe and tune combo.

If you remove the cats, there will be a smell. No way around this.

Your best bets are test pipes or HFCs.

An HFC xpipe will be so expensive you may as well just go catback though.

If volume is what you are after, try the Borla ATAK or Supersprint F1 Race exhausts.

For whatever it's worth I was in the same boat as you. Wanted more sound and not as much smell. Was looking for a xpipe that had HFC. No luck. So I waited for my axleback to be delivered and I slapped on some test pipes.

Surprisingly the secondaries keep the smell at bay. Given that our secondaries each have 200 cel cats that must be the reason the smell is tolerable in my opinion. And the majority of the sound/power is unlocked from removing the primaries which are damn restrictive.

Main point is, I think if you want a little more volume maybe putting some test pipes on 200-300$ will do the trick for ya!
