InsideLine confirms the next gen M3 will be getting N55 engine?

BMW should just take the current V8 and add to snails to it. That will take care of the only 2 cons of that engine, low torque and high fuel consumption. Just imagine the numbers??/

what's all this talk about cutting costs??
did BMW have cost issues when they replaced the S14 of the E30 M3 with the 6 cyl?
did they have issues with the E46 M3 Engine when they made the V8?
WTF?
cost cutting and yet the prices of each replacement model are higher
screw me with the price of the car, fine
but don't screw me in making a one size fits all but charging me 30% more than the guy next to me in the 335 who has basically the same car minus some M badges and a different software tune god damn it!

Very sad. Me being a fan of I6 would be alot happier with a special M V6 enngine. Now with a 3.2l I6 N55 forget any revs above 7.000 RPM. If they could destroke the engine and make it a high reving 2.5l I6, it would be better. Remember the awsome P54 NA 2.0l I6 of the 320i WTCC E46!

It's been common knowledge for a while that the next gen M3 will go down to a six cyl turbo'd engine, just as the M5 has gone down to an 8 cyl turbo'd from the V10.

It's the only way to reduce their overall emissions targets and stop being fined a shed load of money.
