Bear Mountain Run

It has been a long time since I have done a mountain run. With a small group and early morning (No traffic/cyclists) It's a lot of fun.

I'm planning to setup a run on a weekend Sat/Sun early morning and then stop for brunch/pictures. Let's decide a date that fits the majority. Route is open for debate.

Update:

Cruise date: July 14th
Time: 7am Sharp. Please arrive before 7am for quick briefing and route
details
Meet Location: 92 Roa Hook Rd, Cortlandt NY

Please bring walkie-talkies if available. It's easier to communicate that way in case someone is lost.
We are trying to keep the group short. Means the maximum cars allowed are 10. It's the only way to have safe and fun cruise without gaining any attention.

I'd be up for this depending on the group. Last time I tried to join a group heading up there it was a pack of guys stopping traffic on the Palisades to race each other, alternating going 120 and 5 mph. I broke off but saw them up at the mountain later and there were burnouts and donuts, drifting around the traffic circle....

So depending on a the group, count me in

That sounds like hell. Groups of hardo's in leased F8x M cars trying to show off how many laws they can break. I saw one instragram vid of a local 'M group', guy had an individual M4 with 200 miles on it bouncing off the limiter doing donuts in a car park. I cried a little inside.

There is a guy that runs something similar called 'breakfast club', he posts in the F8x NY/NJ/CT section. Haven't had a chance to join yet myself but planning on it.

It was a nightmare. Within one second of joining them a group of 10-15 cars crawled to a halt and took turns racing up the Palisades. Cars were passing in the shoulder to catch up, then when they went to take an exit people missed it and backed up on the shoulder - it was horrible.

I was nervous I'd be guilty by association so I bailed instantly but it was a huge downer.

It was a group you'd see on IG a bunch.

I'd be down again. One I organized last year was pretty chills. No one did anything stupid. Only problem was 2 groups were scattered.

This is exactly what my goal is to avoid. I know by experience most of the "Daddy leased me a fast car and now i have JB4, Gintanis and a tan girlfriend" crowd will not show up at 6-6:30am for a saturday morning run.

I used to host Bear mountain runs 4 years back. Just google "lostkhan Bear mountain". I stopped later after it went out of hand and bad crowd started to show up. But i was able to handpick some really good guys from different forums with variety of cars and did private runs. We were only 5-8 cars depending on whoever was coming for the weekend.

Yeah it was a bummer. I was all excited and there were some nice cars there but I was looking for a cruise up but more to meet a few like minded guys to talk nerdy about cars with for a morning.

I agree that the earlier we go the better and less likely to get d bags from Instagram.

yea seriously, guys don't try that esp on PIP, ESP exit 1~4. that area somehow is well known to cause accident, countless horrible scenes I've responded to over many yrs (as EMS/fire), it's strange but horrible accidents happen ALWAYS btwn exit 1~4

I just realized I posted this in General instead of NY/NJ section.

Anyways, how does July 8th sound? Maybe people have some vacation planned around 4th of July so 8th may not work, but we can get a count of who is able to come.
Second date can be either 14th/15th of July? Ofcourse the meetup should be at 6:30am and drive shall start at 7am sharp.
The reason to keep the date in 2 weeks is because I'm not planning to have a huge turnout. Huge turn out is great for a parking lot meet. But NEVER a good idea for a cruise.
