Yes, replaced throttle actuators and that resolved it.

I had increased emissions CEL go off and on in the past few months until finally going on permanent with a few limp modes. I can tell you chasing this ghost can be frustrating and expensive. I first replaced the fuel pressure sensor, then replaced both actuators, and still the problem persisted. I ultimately replaced the passenger side 02 sensor and spark plugs and have been problem free for a week now. Car is pulling much stronger. I've read it can also be secondary air pump or the check valve for the pump and a few other suggestions.

Fighting the same fight...over the time frame of about a week and a half. The lists below go hand in hand. First Fix action is from first Symptom. Each time a symptom is listed, the car reports different errors over OBD2 on the mechanics code reader, leading to the prescribed Fix action. One mile down the road today after second Fix action, and the symptoms are getting worse now(Limp mode more is dramatic).

Symptoms
Fix actions
  • Just had throttle actuator gears replaced(white plastic gears work, and black gear with a couple broken teeth) ~$1,000
  • Then a failing actuator replaced(discount labor for working same area within less than a week of the previous trouble) ~$1,250
  • Back to the shop in the morning to see what's behind door number 3
