IIRC anywhere from 1-3 weeks depending on when the car ends and what ships are there.

and then another 14 in transit from Bremenhaven to NY/NJ, and adding another 7 sitting in VDC waiting on whatever is holding them up for delivery to the US dealers at this time. CARB and EPA certs are complete(CARB finished this Monday 07/30/12). Not sure what the hold up is right now...

Wow 14 days from Germany to NY? It seems slow but I would imagine these large ships aren't going very fast. Anyway I would think that it must be something like 20-25 days if it has to go to the West Coast (through the Panama Canal).

pickup and delivery here. It also spent a day drawing pretzels at sea on the ship tracker website... guessing the port could not receive it the day it was in US waters. Cruised around for a day lol.

My boat is scheduled to arrive:
- at the Belgium port 3 days later
- at Southhampton port 4 days later
- at the Halifax port 12 days later
- at the NY, NY port 15 days later
- at the Brunswick GA port 19 days later
- at the Charleston SC port 20 days later

And that's as far as it goes.

For Port Hueneme, when did your ship leave Bremerhaven. I'm on my computer now, I think I can find the ETA depending on when your car left Germany.

^^ For ships leaving Germany on or after tomorrow (August 3), the earliest arrival dates for Port Hueneme are:

- Sept. 2
- Sept. 5
- Sept. 19

Cool thanks. I don't have any info really. All I know is that when I called the 800-number today, my status changed from "awaiting a shipping vessle" to "in transit". So perhaps it got on that August 1st boat and looks like it's at least another month away.

Will it be port Port Hueneme for you too tbone? (since you're in Bay Area, CA)

If so, here are some more specifics. I also backed it up to July 27th, in case Longboarder's car got on an earlier boat. Longboarder, if anything, your car may be on the ship that left on July 31st. Since the one Aug. 1 is not going all the way to Port Hueneme.

The following ones are going to Port Hueneme (Departure and Arrives Dates):

BREMERHAVEN 31/07/2012 ----> PORT HUENEME, CA 23/08/2012

BREMERHAVEN 05/08/2012 ----> PORT HUENEME, CA 02/09/2012

BREMERHAVEN 10/08/2012 ----> PORT HUENEME, CA 05/09/2012

BREMERHAVEN 25/08/2012 ----> PORT HUENEME, CA 19/09/2012

BREMERHAVEN 08/09/2012 ----> PORT HUENEME, CA 03/10/2012

BREMERHAVEN 22/09/2012 ----> PORT HUENEME, CA 17/10/2012

Port Hueneme would be the closest. Fingers crossed I make it onto the Aug. 5th boat. Thanks a bunch for this info!

You're welcome tbone.

Here's the site you go to next, to await your car showing up in the shipping company's computer system:

http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp

Scroll down to right hand corner towards the bottom, and look for

"Track and Trace" ----> "All users"

Then it opens up another tracking page and you enter your car's VIN in the "Cargo ID" box on the far right.

My understanding is that it won't show up until a day or more *after* your car has left Bremerhaven. A little frustrating when you're obsessed and checking every day, haha. But I guess, when all is said and done, it's pretty cool to be able to track it.

Then once you know which boat it's on, there are multiple ways to track that boat's journey.

Thank you for that! I just spent some time following the various steps on the blog that you posted. Great info there. Things are starting to get even more exciting

How do you know for certain that Wallenius Wilhelmsen is the shipping company? The sticky up top says they also use NYK for west coast shipments.

From that blog, it appears the only way is by process of elimination.

I did a wildcard search for cars with similar VINs and I saw they shipped several M3 (with VIN similar to mine), so I thought chances were good they'd ship mine.

I just found out today that my car shipped on 8/3 on the vessel Asteria Leader. This appears to be a K-Line vessel versus W&W so tracking the vessel and the VIN appear are not possible as with W&W. You'll have to contact your dealer to know if the car was shipped on KLine and when.

It's just a relief to know it's shipped and on the water.
