They actually let us hammer on them pretty good, we were doing launch control starts, slalom and brake & avoid exercises too. The Cayman S is a very nice car, feels like a go-cart almost.. not slow at all, think we will see it kick some M3 butt on the track. My buddy has one on order, he should have it in May.. he'll be joining us on several track days this summer so it should be fun!

I was in the afternoon session of that launch. The weather was way worse than the morning though, heavy fog plus heavy rain.

The weather was awesome today at Mosport. The new pavement is indeed grippy. I'm matching my best times from last year but on PSS tires and without proper brakes or alignment (and baby seat still installed :-)). The exit out of 5 is faster now, so I have to shift to 6 almost every time before 8. The morning session was pouring rain though, and I ended up on the grass within 0.5 meres of the concrete wall out of 5C. Similarly to how Vico wrecked, just caught it barely in time. Will get a video from a car behind me.

In the dry though, it's a bit faster, indeed, and I feel more comfortable with less braking into 1 and 2 because of paved run offs (did not even come close to needing them yet - tells me I was too conservative before).

Calabogie was awesome this weekend! The new Prestige Porsche team was testing testing their two new cup cars (they're bloody fast), and saw a whole bunch of familiar faces. Got my times consistently into the 2:27s (and recorded on my smartycam) and can probably find a second or two more I've got to flush my brake fluid and get some SRF in there soon!

^ We'll probably do another round of days in the next month or so. We've had huge interest for more days, so stay tuned!

The turn 5C is as dangerous as before

I was trying to stay away from standing water around 5b apex and exit of 5c, so took 5c much sharper than in the dry, and throttle application sent the car into an oversteer that I barely caught before the wall. Cannot quite see it on the video, but the rear started slipping out just before the middle of 5c inside curbing, and I did not correct enough right away. A bit embarrassing, but it was the first session of the season, with rain, cold, and track modifications (excuses, excuses...)

Well, ideally I'd catch it before it gets that far. But stuff happens. It did not seem as close from behind the wheel - rear came much closer to the wall then the front. Interestingly, out of 4 close calls I had in 5 years of tracking, 3 were like this one, from too much throttle in the wet. I guess I need to spend more time on wet skidpad.

BTW, I got wrong pads delivered, so I was running street pads, and they were not good at all - the car was shaking side to side on entry to 8, and they were almost done by the end of the weekend. So now I'm driving with about 2mm of pad material, and hoping the new pads get here by May 25th (DDT).

I had the same thing happen on the Glen with the pads, what ever you do, don't get down to the back plates, the discs for our kits are huge $$$$$$.

See you guys on the 25th!!

The next days will probably be June 22-23. I'm thinking I might do a day at CMP, then on Sunday drive down to the Glen for an epic track week.

Otherwise we're looking at the weekend of July 6-7.
