You need to physcially replace the sensor part. Once you have done that then see post #5 above and perform that.

I just changed the rear pads on my E92. My warning light had not come on yet.

When I took the car apart, I found I was missing the rear left sensor. The rear right was there. After reading this thread, I didn't want to deal with the light coming on. So I reused the rear right sensor and did not install one on the left.

Just wondering how I don't have a light on my dash with a missing sensor?

The rear only has one sensor and the front has 2. Your not missing any.

That's what makes this forum so awesome having guys/gals like gazosnic. Hey Gaz, did you end up pulling all of your hair out or were you able to reset your pad warning?

Thank you. Funny how I did not come across this simple piece of information while looking up DIYs.

I have a method that works i re used my old sensors with out replacing them, first unplug front 2 brake sensors and left rear passenger sensor from the car/engine side (NOT where the brake pads are) then you take a paper clip and make a U shape onto each sensor plug into all 3 than go do the reset procedure it will still be at ——- miles so that’s good, now you take out all 3 paper clips and plug your original sensors back in and now your done should go back to factory settings

Btw there are only 3 brake pads sensors 2 in front 1 in rear passenger behind wheel well cover

How do you get them out of the pads without breaking them?

First I unlplugged the brake sensor that’s closer to the engine side should be a white looking tube like, then I took off the caliper then removed the brake pads with the brake sensor still attached to the pad, now that you have the pad free and away from the caliper carefully wiggle it off the sensor it’s held by a tiny metal clip that’s hidden, should pop right off with out breaking, worked for me on all 3 sides

From my experience the paper clip method works for a little bit then it doesn't. I had to cut my wires and twist them together. No more warning but also no more sensor. But I check mine regularly

Should work if your old sensors are in one piece and not cracked, mines shows 8,000 for rear and fronts 30,000

I just replaced my pads on my 2011. Instead of replacing the wear sensors I stripped the wires, soldered them together, wrappped them in electric tape, and zip tied them out of the way. After resetting the indicator it shows 60,000 miles until they need to be replaced again.

If you follow the link above it will reset it if there are still miles remaining before hitting zero. However one thing to note that I have noticed is if your car has gone all the way to the zero miles remaining mark for the brake pad change then it may be a PITA. It seems once it hits zero you physically have to unplug the brake pad sensor cable from the wheel well(front and/or back), turn on the car while unplugged, turn off car, plug sensor back in, and then perform the reset. I could be wrong about this but that was the only way I could get mine to reset.
should i try this but it didn t go to zero i tried reset it and it went to _ _ _ _ _
