30 tells me...... residential area.... which means kids, pets and families. Sorry bro, but there is no excuse for driving recklessly... and 67 in a 30 in most states is either a careless driving or reckless driving offense especially in a residential area. I got one when I was young and guess what.... 890 dollar fine 10 points and 3 weekends of driving class. A car .... ANY car is as much of a weapon as a gun in the hands of a irresponsible driver.

And for the kid doing 230 in a 60??? You should have had your car impounded and had your license revoked until a time where you can drive responsibly. You write that up like it is cool that you got off..... Cop and judge should have slammed your ass to teach you lesson.... before you kill someone other than yourself.

Grow up kids!!!

beware of school zones/residential zones!!! -- your ass is grass in most cases of speeding there. You were doing double the posted limit -- which is really bad. I advise you to get a lawyer if you want to keep your licence.

Sorry, I should've encourage you more. Next time, do 100 in a 30 zone. To make it more exciting, also close your eyes.

I don't think Playland Parkway is exactly a 65 mph sort of road, by any means.

Especially considering the state of NY region roads right now, driving at that speed means you're one pothole away from a tragedy.

I agree with the others - your best bet is to either get a lawyer to represent you or to plead for mercy from the judge/officer. I have heard that lawyers can speak to the prosecutor and ask for the sentence to be reduced, too? Either way, you want to avoid a reckless driving ticket, which I believe would count as a misdemeanor offense.

Yup, it's there for a reason. Lowest common denominator. It's there to protect the stupidest among us. It's there for the chick driving a 20 year old beater with kids in the car while she talks on the phone trying to set up her drug deal. It's there for the 70 year old farmer driving a 1972 Dodge Powerwagon with 4 unmatched, recapped snow tires, in the rain, at night, and a load of junkyard bound scrapmetal in the bed. At the other end of the spectrum is a car with the latest DSC and antilock brake technology, that is not a pickup truck, that is not an SUV, being driven by a someone who has been to HSDE's and had other driving training, who is paying attention and is not talking on a cellphone while he's drivng. The frustration to most of us is the LCD, one size fits all nature of speed limits.
Having said all that, 65 in a 35 is a little extreme. I do my share of over the limit driving, but I generally reserve it for open highways. I also consider one or two tickets once every couple of years to be the price of doing business.

Trust me, in Seattle, we have quite retarded speed limits. But you need to pick your fights. The problem is giving driving licenses is so easy in this country. But that's gonna be way too off topic.

Well 1st or 10th doesn't justify doing more than 2x the limit, sorry. But hey if you think it's ok I'm not gonna argue anymore. I'm not 50 btw, I had my mid life crisis quite early.

Sometimes they allow you to plead guilty to "careless driving" and they double the fine, but you get no points. I personally feel that's a damn good deal...I'd rather pay extra than get points on my license.

I always wonder why people who ask for an opinion get offended when they get one they don't like. Either way, that's way over the limit and while its easy to do with modern cars, you have a responsibility to pay attention to what you are doing. You can plead not guilty but that's stupid. A lawyer will probably help, but not guilty will just piss of the judge...good luck

holy sh!t...so fast...
the cop clocked you at 230? or did he just see you driving fast and pull you over knowing u were way above the limit?

I seriously doubt he was doing 230....maybe 230km/hr but even that is ~ 140mph.

You should have been jailed on the spot and your mother should have been locked up as well for allowing her son (no less) to drive that speed with a LEARNERS PERMIT!!

Thanks for raising our insurance rates.

it's funny, but when I used to own my E36 S/C M3, most of the moving violations i received were in loaner cars . The only Ticket I received in the M3 was driving a 100 mph, but CHP officer was super nice to put it down as 75.
