Got an M3 from a BMW dealer but been lied to

I bought a 2013 M3 from a BMW dealer and was told that there were no issues/accidents by the dealer. Come to find out the bumper was pre-LCI. I found this out when trying to replace the original grill with a set of OEM black grills. Why would anyone replaced the bumper unless there it wasn't damaged?

A clean Carfax just means nothing was reported. Happens all the time where someone might get in a little fender bender in a parking lot and chose to fix it themselves (not go through insurance) someone probably got a scrapped bumper with same paint code and switched it out. Dealer must have missed it on inspection.

Is it a Euro bumper (do you have reflectors)?

I think you have LCI grills which would fit a 335is. Any M3 grills should work (there was no facelift, as post #2 hints at).

Grills should be the same across all years.

I installed oem grills on my '08 that came off a friends '13.

Something isn't right.

All M3s are pre-LCI fronts.

Most people swap bumpers for euro bumpers if they were replacing. It is also possible there are damages to the bumper that requires replacement fascias but no metal work.

Maybe it's a 335 and not a M3. The post title would be valid in that case.

Might be innocent might not be. Maybe you can get a third party mechanic to inspect and tell you if he sees areas that were repainted or if it's just a bumper replacement due to say road chips.

Had an experience over at carmax twice which seems to make a business off of lying.

Bought a 330 that years later found out had been in front end damage. It didn't really affect the car but didn't appreciate being lied to. I will say their Carmax warranty was the best I ever dealt with, I guess for this reason.

Went to check out an m3 that literally had lines in the hood from a poor paint job and it didn't drive straight. They tried to tell me that's how it came from factory.

Please make sure you have the M3 with dual exhaust outlets (quad tips). If you have a single exhaust outlet, that might be the source of your problem.

Maybe you thought you bought a M3 but it's actually a 335i? lol

on a serious note you most likely bought the wrong set of front grilles.

EDIT:

Let me break it down for you a bit more

The E92 was made from 2007-2013. Pre-LCI runs from 07-10 and LCI runs from 11-13. Those changes are for the standard 3 series only. The M3 front end is pre-LCI and never changed throughout its run from 08-13. You bought grilles for a LCI model standard 3 series thinking it would fit your 2013 M3. Next time question your own assumptions before throwing a whole dealership under the bus.
