Just saw this. I'm definitely interested. January is perfect for me, even a weekday if it works out best for track and price.

Just got an email from Eric at H2R about some different dates. The two open Saturdays are next year; 2/6 or 2/13. I realize the second date may be difficult for those not single, but let me know what you guys think.

Good luck with this. I might be in the area on leave so I would love to come for rides if that is allowed.

I will only be able to offer moral support since I just shipped my car to Korea. If allowed, I would be happy to take my 94 Chevy 3/4t pickup for a romp around the track.

Again, not sure why the Tejas Chapter of BMWCCA does nothing but country road cruises...kind of lame. I will be joining the Dallas chapter when I get back to the Centex area unless this changes.

^I'm sure rides will be no problem, don't know about the truck though however on their power lap board is a Ford F350 Duelly with a time of 2+ minutes

Cool, I'll bring my helmet home!

Nah, I wouldn't do that to my truck. Its an ext cab long bed so I'd have to take the turns at 10 mph or I'd run out of track. Let's say turning radius is not one of its selling points.

I was joking about the truck, but come any way!! Spicoli here will show you what 90mph offs are like

Damn, that sucks. Doesn't look too bad though.

Do you have a CSL trunk lid?

It was totaled and yes, I did have a CSL boot. I bought a newer ZCP M3 last week though and plan to transfer all the mods from the old one and continue my track car project. Hopefully we will see you out there in February.

I'm interested, but I can't 100% commit yet.

How can I get more info on the cost, helmet, etc?

This will be my first time on the track, so I'm a complete newbie.

Nawaaz, you should definitely do this if you're available. This is what our cars are all about. You can enjoy the M3 on the street, but you can't truly appreciate how good of a car it is and how much fun it can be until you've taken it to the track. In the meantime, if you can, take a HPDE with your local BMWCCA. I'm sure John will post up cost info soon, and you can learn about helmets with some quick internet research.

John, 2/6/10 works best for me for obvious reasons.

You'll also want to make sure you have plenty of tread and brake pad life (I'd also recommend a brake fluid change for some Castrol SRF). I've not been yet, but H2R doesn't look like a real long track with huge straights, so it'll be easier on your brakes than other tracks, but you'll still need to be prepared.

One thing you may have a problem with is the 99 dBA noise limit. I don't know how rigid they are about that, but you may want to see how loud your exhaust is going to be.

The group costs are listed at the bottom of the agreement at the link below. I'd hope to get 15 people/cars to keep costs reasonable.

If you do not want to buy a helmet, they will have an extra there you would be able to use at no cost. I usually just do that, although I should just buy a helmet so I do not have to keep sharing facial sweat with other motorists.

Thanks for the additional info Tom.

I'll have to dig deeper and do a lot of catching up on all this track related stuff....

btw, I don't see myself passing the 99 db limit, since I'm confident my set-up's a HELLUVA lot louder than that.

I may end up buying one since I plan on going to the track often, especially after all my mods are on.....I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

i was told to stop/ quiet my car down because it was to loud. my 1st session out there with an instructor getting checked off for solo, my second session i was solo with my wife as a passenger and after that session he told me i had to drive part throttle or don't drive at all. third session i drove part throttle and bored myself so i stopped. keep in mind my car is very loud though. 4 cylinder turbo car with an open dump wastegate. anytime i hit full boost its totally unmuffled. it is a street car though, i daily drive it. i don't think any of your guys cars are as loud as mine so you should be fine.

here is what to loud sounds like:
